Join our dedicated team where we work as part of multidisciplinary engineering project teams on a range of developments as part of ESB’s Brighter Future and Net Zero 2040 Strategies.

The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will work with highly skilled and motivated multi-disciplinary projects teams, as well as engaging with clients, contractors, colleagues, and other stakeholders to influence a successful outcome for the projects.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Provision of strong geotechnical engineering technical expertise and leadership for challenging technical projects.
  • Detailed geotechnical designs and analysis of foundations, retaining structures, ground improvement schemes and earthworks. 
  • Development of Project Geotechnical Risk Registers including Mitigation and Response Plans.
  • Maintaining a commercial focus.
  • Design, manage and procure geotechnical investigations through ESB frameworks.
  • Geotechnical design review.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior colleagues and support their professional development. 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

 

Working as part of this dynamic team, you will always have new challenges and new problems to solve – working together is key.  You will have the autonomy to choose how best to tackle tasks and solve problems with the support of your colleagues.

 

Essential

  • Full drivers’ licence and access to a car.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret geological and geotechnical data, laboratory test results, and other relevant information to provide recommendations within GIR reports.
  • Familiarity with applicable Codes, Standards and current industry best practice. 
  • Excellent Communication and report writing skills  
  • 4 to 8 years relevant consultancy experience in geotechnical engineering and/or engineering geology with experience of designing and managing ground investigations
  • Experience of geotechnical design/design review

 

Desirable

 

  • The demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.  
  • Experience of geotechnical design software e.g. Oasys suite.

 

 

Qualifications

 

Essential

 

  • A recognised level 8 degree in civil/structural/environmental Engineering.

Desirable

  • Level 9 Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology
  • Chartered status in a recognised professional institution 

 

 

Location

 

This role is based in either E&MP Dublin/ Cork offices but travel to project locations as required is a key requirement of the role.

Reporting to

 

Reporting to the Geotechnical Team Leader, Civil, Environmental & Renewables Engineering. 

 

 

Salary

 

€55,000 to €65,000 per annum
