Senior Professional, Quantity Surveyor
The Senior Quantity Surveyor role will encompass all aspects of quantity surveying including cost, contract and commercial risk management for our full range of civil engineering projects related to infrastructure development in the power industry. The role will encompass close liaison with other design professionals, our partners across ESB and contractors. Increasing visibility of the Quantity Surveying function across ESB, while maintaining standards, developing others and enhancing stakeholder management are key requirement for this role.
There will be two Senior Quantity Surveyor positions in the Commercial Team.
- The successful candidates will be responsible for the commercial management of Solar Farm projects, as well as the demolition / controlled dismantling of existing Generation assets including Power Stations and Wind Farms. The projects are located throughout the country.
Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Cost management function throughout all phases of a project.
- Preparation of Order of Magnitude Costs.
- Preparation of tender documentation including bills of quantities and pricing schedules.
- Liaison with procurement function.
- Tender assessment, evaluation and negotiation.
- Post Contract Commercial Management duties including monitoring and tracking project progress.
- Measurement and valuation of variations in the work during the contract.
- Report writing and interpretation.
- Promoting the safety management culture across all activities demonstrating visible commitment to safety.
- Ensure that Quality Procedures are implemented on all projects.
- Assist with mentoring and professional development of junior staff.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
- Level 8 Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum Quantity Surveying experience of 5 years (Post Qualification).
- Proven track record with demonstrated ability to deliver own work to the highest professional standards.
- A flexible approach to work, to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines to deliver excellent client service.
- Ability to make quality decisions and judgements.
- Ability to work and share knowledge and competencies within a team structure.
- Excellent communication, report writing, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of the administration of main conditions of contract including FIDIC Conditions of Contract.
- Full driving licence and access to a car.
Desirable
- MRICS/MSCSI qualified, with Legal Registration under the Building Control Act 2007.
- Experience in the use of Buildsoft & Cubit software would be advantageous.
- Experience in Civil Engineering / Utility projects would be advantageous.
Location
This position is based in EMP Offices at The Sidings Building, Dublin 2 or Eastgate, Little Island, Cork but travel to project locations as required, is a key requirement of the role.

The successful candidate may work flexibly within the jurisdiction where they have been employed, with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration at least two days per week. Salary
€59,000 - €70,000 per annum
