Join our dedicated team where we provide specialist engineering services in the Design and Construction of High Voltage Transmission and Distribution Assets for the Networks Business.  

The team specialises in; 

  • Conceptual and detailed Engineering Design. 

  • Design Safety Management. 

  • Project programming and commercial management. 

  • Design review for EPC and Design and Build Projects  

 

Key Responsibilities 

Responsibilities will cover the items below:  

 

  • Provision of the requisite civil and structural technical engineering services within the HV Substations Civil Team fully embracing ESB’s Safety Culture. Projects covered within the team can involve a range of civil and structural design disciplines including reinforced concrete and structural steel design. 

  • Prepare civil and structural engineering technical specifications, reports and design drawings. 

  • Undertake site inspections, data collection and analysis to facilitate effective technical designs and / or technical assessments. 

  •  Provide inputs for site investigation, assessment, feasibility, design and consenting purposes. 

  • Provide design review support as required for EPC and Design and Build delivered projects. 

  • Undertake lead engineer role on projects with responsibilities including coordinating multi-disciplinary design inputs, Client interfacing, design fee and programme management. 

  • Mentor and provide technical support to lesser experienced team members. 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience 

Working as part of this dynamic team, you will always have new challenges and new problems to solve – working together is key.  You will have the autonomy to choose how best to tackle tasks and solve problems with the support of your colleagues. 

We are looking for the following skills. 

  • A high level of specialist expertise, including a strong technical capability, in Civil or Structural engineering with particular reference to reinforced concrete and/or structural steel design.. 

  • At least 5 years relevant Civil or Structural engineering experience. 

  • Demonstrated a record of successfully managing significant projects or key aspects of significant projects. 

  • A strong commercial and project management capability. 

  • Ability to work and share knowledge and competencies within a team structure. 

  • Full clean driving licence and access to a car. 

  • Strong safety awareness and competency. 

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. 

  • Flexibility to travel nationwide. 

 

Qualifications 

Essential  

Level 8 Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification.  

 

Location 

The Sidings Grand Canal Dock, Dublin or Eastgate Cork.

Salary 

€ 59,000 to € 70,000 per annum
