Senior Professional Civil/Structural Engineer
The Senior Civil, Structural Engineer role involves leading the delivery of civil engineering inputs from feasibility through construction stage for variety of ESB’s infrastructure projects. This means leading the technical engineering services in the delivery of project works packages and advising on appropriate engineering solutions for various aspects of projects.
The role also involves assisting with the mentoring and professional development of junior staff. The role may involve full-time assignment to project sites or project teams depending on business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and take ownership by demonstrating visible commitment to safety and quality.
- Provide civil, structural engineering technical services and design capability from concept to detailed design, in the delivery of engineering works.
- Manage and co-ordinate all relevant civil/structural engineering and associated disciplines’ activities required to successfully deliver projects to approved scope, budget and programme including the management of civil works contracts.
- Manage engineering works package(s) relating to the delivery of electricity infrastructure projects as required including scoping, procuring, technical assessment
- Build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Mentoring and training of junior staff.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
- Minimum 5 years relevant design or construction site experience
- Strong technical capability, in civil and structural engineering design or relevant site experience and competence to deliver civil/structural engineering packages.
- A strong commercial and project management capability.
- Demonstrated experience in successfully leading significant civil engineering projects or aspects of significant projects.
- Experience in the use of Eurocodes and British Standards
- Full driving licence and access to a car.
Desirable
- The demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in the use of Finite Element Analysis packages (ideally Strand7, Robot Structural Analysis or Tekla Structural Designer)
- Experience in performing PSDP role on projects.
- A strong ability to identify project work requirements and to initiate necessary work with limited oversight.
Location
This position will be based in EMP Dublin or Cork office but travel to project locations is a key requirement of the role.
Smart Working at ESB is designed to make ‘in-person’ time together as purposeful as possible while also enabling the effective use of digital tools and hybrid arrangements to preserve our commitment to flexibility. The successful candidate may work flexibly within the jurisdiction where they have been employed, with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration at least two days per week. All Smart Working arrangements are subject to regular review based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the business.

Salary
€59,000 - €70,000 per annum
