Civil Project Engineer

Position description

The Civil Project Engineer will be a member of the Civil Renewables Group within the Engineering & Major Projects (EMP) business unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and delivering engineering input and project management for the development and delivery of solar projects across Ireland, working collaboratively within a focused team. They will have at least 5 years professional experience in the area of civil engineering, including some experience in project and contract management.

This role will play a key part in delivering renewable energy generation for ESB, and thus support its strategic objectives of decarbonising electricity generation in Ireland.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

· Promote and lead the safety management culture across all activities by taking ownership and demonstrating visible commitment to safety.

· Implementing department Quality Procedures on all projects.

· Providing civil engineering technical expertise and advice for solar generation projects from concept through to detailed design and construction.

· Co-ordinating all relevant engineering and associated disciplines’ activities within the wider department, required to successfully deliver projects to approved scope, budget and programme.

· Project manage civil works packages for solar generation projects and administer contracts for specific works packages

· Scoping, specifying, procuring, technical assessment, contract management and design review of solar generation projects work packages

· Building and managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

· Undertaking site quality inspections

 

 

Experience and Qualifications

Essential

· Level 8 Civil Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification

· A minimum of 5 years relevant experience is required.

· Strong civil engineering design office experience and having successfully delivered various civil engineering projects

· Project management experience for small to medium sized civil engineering projects

· A strong ability to identify project work requirements and to initiate work with limited oversight.

· Full drivers’ licence

 

 

Desirable

· Structural engineering experience

· Experience undertaking to role of PSDP and/or PSCS on construction projects

· Working knowledge of FIDIC conditions of contract

 

 

Location

This position will be based in EMP Dublin or Cork office. Travel to project locations for site visits will also be a requirement of the role.

Salary
€57,000 - €68,000 per annum
