Position Description

 

Customer Solutions is the primary customer facing business unit of the ESB Group and with over 1 million customers, Electric Ireland are the leading energy supplier in Ireland. Our product offerings include Electricity, Gas, and Energy Home services.

The Middle Office team are responsible for the provision of an independent risk management function for trading, pricing and demand forecasting activities in the Pricing, Trading, & Regulation department of Electric Ireland. Middle Office measure, monitor, and report on financial, credit, & operational risks while maintaining a robust governance & compliance framework.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

We are looking for a candidate to analyse and report on the market risks within ESB Customer Solutions’ energy portfolio. 

  • Deliver an independent view of the trading risks across Electric Ireland’s trading portfolios in both residential and business markets and communicate that view to senior stakeholders.
  • Play an integral part in evaluating trading and hedging strategies, risk premiums and new products.
  • Deliver oversight through appropriate risk reporting of Electric Ireland's demand forecasting activities across electricity and gas portfolios and communicate that view to senior stakeholders.
  • Provide a challenge and oversight role over trading activities ensuring risks are effectively evaluated and managed.
  • Use data to understand and quantify market risk, sharing the outcome of their analysis to support or challenge trading strategies.
  • Pro-actively seek to further develop and enhance the analytical capabilities of the Middle Office function.
  • Report on risks to the Trading Risk Management Committee and other senior stakeholders.

 

 

Experience and Qualifications

 

Essential

  • Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience post qualification.
  • A third level qualification with a strong analytical content, a professional qualification in Risk Management, or relevant experience is required.
  • A strong numeric and analytical ability with attention to detail.
  • Good decision making and problem-solving capability.
  • Responds to change within a fast-changing business environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work on own initiative and deliver results to strict deadlines.

 

Desirable

  • An understanding of energy markets is desirable but not essential.

 

 

Location

 

Swift Square, Santry in line with ESB's Smart Working Arrangements.

Salary

 

€59,900 - €70,500 per annum, depending on experience.
