Senior Team Lead - HV Projects & Programmes
The Networks Engineering business in ESB Engineering & Major Projects is the centre of engineering for ESB’s Transmission & Distribution businesses, as well as providing consultancy services in T&D technology for external clients.
The HV Projects group is a key part of Networks Engineering and is responsible for the design of high voltage transmission and distribution assets for ESB Networks. This includes both conceptual and detailed engineering design, design safety management (Project Supervisor Design Stage), project programming and commercial management. Collaboration with a range stakeholder is a key function of this role including Networks Project Delivery and other external delivery services and contingent labour providers.
The Senior Team Leader – HV Projects & Programmes is responsible for the management of:
- Substation delivery team with a focus on external framework designers
- The processes and systems required to meet design teams working with Networks Project Delivery and ESB Networks Customer Delivery
The role of the successful candidate will also include project delivery, Large Project Design/ Project Management, Design Framework co-ordination and will represent HV Projects on Working Groups.
Key Responsibilities
The HV Projects Manager is required to:
- Manage HV Project Team and manage design support associated with internal and external project delivery models
- Establish and maintain HV Projects substation template designs and libraries
- Manage project reporting of external framework designers and the Bahrain substation design team.
- Develop and implement plans to improve and standardise the HVP processes and incorporate feedback from project reviews and lessons learned.
- Provide leadership and technical guidance to team members in all aspects of the project scheduling and reporting, cost monitoring, commercial aspects (including customer and renewable connections, project programming (including design, construction, test and inspection), training, development, mentoring and interfacing with clients.
- Provide the day to day management of specialist work streams and the approval of all the key work outputs.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
- A minimum of 7 years’ experience in HV Projects/Project Management.
- Proven ability to work in a team to a high level of performance.
- A strong work ethic with a clear focus on delivery to ESB’s safety, time, quality and cost objectives.
- Strong commercial and project management capability.
- The demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- A flexible approach to work, especially where necessary to delivery excellent customer service.
- Strong stakeholder management skills woth excellent communication and report writing skills.
- A proven track record of success contributing to the training and development of technical professionals.
Desirable
- An understanding of all elements of substation scoping, planning, design, costing, construction and commissioning.
Qualifications
Essential
Either 3rd Level qualification or equivalent work experience is essential
Location
This role is based in either ESB E&MP Dublin/ Cork offices but travel to project locations as required, is a key requirement of the role
The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least two anchor days per week. All smart working arrangements are subject to manager approval and ongoing review, based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the individual.

Salary
€71,000 - €84,000 per annum
