Position Description  

 

The Programme Management Team in Engineering and Major Projects, (EMP), combines work programme information from across EMP business areas to provide one view of the EMP work programme. The team monitors and reports on the status of the work programme and integrates this information with strategic resource planning, capability management and cost management. This team also ensures that the work programme is aligned to the strategic needs of EMPs partners.

 

This Specialist Lead is responsible for ensuring that the Centre of Engineering (CoE) elements of the work programme are fully co-ordinated and scheduled, resourced and aligned to delivery requirements.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Key Responsibilities include:

 

  • Propose solutions how design or site work can be sequenced to meet strict timelines/energisation dates, communicating with all stakeholders to reach agreement
  • Technically review design schedules to ensure the full work breakdown is captured on each project for each design discipline (stations, cables, overhead lines, SCS, civils) based on the scope of work
  • Liaise with all engineering disciplines on each project to ensure their design involvement is captured correctly, including their resource allocation/cost/work breakdown/task sequence and ensure all designers are working to the same delivery timeline.
  • Proactively identify project and programme level issues and risks highlighting discrepancies between feasible timelines for design/materials delivery and proposed outages/energisation dates.

 

 

Experience and Qualifications

 

Essential

  • A minimum of 7 years’ substation design or delivery experience in Networks and/or Generation projects
  • Ability to work collaboratively and coordinate effectively with a large group of colleagues on a range of work tasks.
  • The proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities and statkeholders
  • A strong work ethic with a clear focus on delivery to ESB’s safety, time, quality and cost objectives.
  • Experience in developing and implementing business processes and procedures.
  • A flexible approach to work.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills.

 

Desirable

  • An experienced user of MS Project or other scheduling tools
  • Experience in using MS Project Online
  • Demonstrated competency in project management methodologies and systems, in particular in project scheduling and reporting.
  • Familiar with Power Bi Data Analytics tools

 

 

Location

 

This position will be based in our ESB Engineering & Major Projects offices in either Dublin Airport Central or Eastgate, Little Island, Cork.

Salary

 

 €66,000 to €78,000 per annum
