Position Description  

The Storage team handles the management of the SAN (Storage Area Network), Storage and Backup infrastructure that supports ESB’s corporate data for its key business and information systems across all its IT platforms. The team manages all hardware, firmware and software for this storage and backup infrastructure.  

 

The infrastructure is hosted in ESB datacentre suites in Southwest Dublin and Northwest Dublin. Due to increased complexity and scale in the SAN infrastructure, the Storage Team requires a skilled and knowledgeable SAN administrator to support ESB’s SAN switches and storage arrays.  

 

A minimum of 3 years' experience in supporting enterprise level SAN solutions is needed. This experience would preferably be in Brocade FOS (Fabric Operating System) and enterprise class arrays. 

 

Key Responsibilities  

The successful candidate will work in the infrastructure services storage team. Responsibilities of this role will include:  

  • SAN Infrastructure management
  • Data Storage Management
  • SAN Performance monitoring and optimisation 
  • Storage capacity planning
  • Backup and disaster recovery utilising backup software and array technology
  • Developing effective working relationships with various key internal and external business stakeholders.
  • Working with market vendors to obtain relevant market and product updates, aiding service development as well as troubleshooting analysis and resolution. 

 

Experience and Qualifications  

Essential 

  • Minimum of 3 years' relevant experience. 

  • A strong understanding of Networking, Storage and SAN platforms and principles.

  • A strong understanding of Operating System architecture and platforms. 

  • A strong understanding of Cyber Security best practice and risk analysis. 

  • A strong familiarity with incident and change management processes and or industry best practice e.g., ITIL.   

  • Strong documentation/writing skills. 

  • Proficient in using the Microsoft Office suite of tools (Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint, etc.). 

  • Willingness to travel to and work in the Dublin based datacentres from time to time 

  • Recognised third level computing qualification or equivalent work experience is essential. 

  • Storage array, Brocade, VMware, or other relevant IT Industry accreditations. 

Desirable  

  • Knowledge of VMware and Site Recovery Manager 

  • Good knowledge of Scripting (preferably PowerShell)  

  • Strong interest in or understanding of Cloud platforms.  

  • Strong interest in Automation and associated technologies 

  • Working knowledge of the veritas suite of backup products such as Netbackup and Data insights 

 

Location  

This position will be based in ESB’s Head Office, F27, Dublin.

Salary 

€48,000 - €56,500 per annum (depending on experience)
