Position Description  

ESB Group Treasury is a specialist team of professionals responsible for managing ESB’s debt portfolio of €7bn, ensuring that the ESB Group is funded in the most appropriate and cost-effective manner and has sufficient cash reserves to meet current future liabilities. It also manages key financial risks including interest rate, foreign exchange and counterparty risk, and provides best practice guidance and support on Treasury matters to ESB business lines.    

 

The successful candidate will be afforded the opportunity to progress professionally in a dynamic environment. They will enhance their understanding of the key treasury disciplines, including cash management, accessing the debt capital markets, management of interest rate and foreign exchange risk, bonds and guarantees, developing long-term treasury strategies to support business growth, and leveraging relationships with ESB’s core banking group to assist in the achievement of ESB’s strategic objectives.    

 

Key Responsibilities  

The Treasury Analyst safeguards financial stability by managing liquidity, risk, and banking operations while executing FX strategies and trade finance. The role also drives system and process improvements to enhance efficiency and governance.

 

  • FX and Liquidity Management: Execute and report on FX hedging activities to manage currency risk. Monitor liquidity positions and contribute to strategic liquidity planning. Invest surplus cash in line with risk appetite to optimise returns. 
  • Cash Forecasting and Treasury Operations: Maintain and update short-term cash flow forecasts with variance analysis. Maintain accurate bank transaction records and assist in managing bank relationships. Process treasury-related invoices, documentation, and internal funding workflows.
  • Trade Finance Administration: Administer trade finance instruments and guarantees, ensuring timely and accurate execution. 
  • Systems and Automation: Enhance treasury systems and automate reporting and forecasting processes. Support system integrations to improve efficiency and data accuracy. 
  • Continuous Improvement and Governance: Lead continuous improvement initiatives across treasury processes. Ensure compliance with internal controls and support policy development where required.  

 

Experience and Qualifications  

Essential 

  • Relevant degree or qualification in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field.  
  • Knowledge of treasury operations, cash management, and financial instruments.  
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and well-organized.  
  • Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.   

Desirable  

  • Experience in automation or system integration.  
  • Experience with TMS and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Quantum) preferred.  
  • Familiarity with FX hedging, liquidity planning, and investment strategies.   

 

Location  

This position will be based in ESB's Head office Fitzwilliam 27

Salary 
€57,900 - €68,100 per annum (depending on experience)
