Position Description

 

Within the ESB Group, ESB Trading is a leading Irish wholesale energy trading business, active in both the Irish and GB energy markets as well as European commodities markets delivering essential asset optimisation services, risk management and wholesale market access solutions.

 

ESB Trading is going through a period of significant change with the requirement to integrate a fleet of new assets into our existing IT systems and business processes these assets include new Wind, Solar, Batteries ,gas turbines and two new emergency generation sites 1,000MWs to be integrated in the next 2 years. The role will work closely across Front Office and various other trading and generation teams in I-SEM and GB to integrate all these new assets, support future I-SEM & GB market changes, support and implement all changes in IT and business processes as required.

 

The role will also be responsible for supporting all existing Front Office trading systems and business processes to ensure that there is a programme of continuous system improvement that meets any regulatory changes or future market changes in systems.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

The successful candidate will have responsibility for:

 

  • Anticipating, understanding and delivering trading business requirements for new assets business processes and IT changes across the trading function (FO, MO & BO).
  • Responsibility for prioritising a programme of work from design to delivery to ensure all new Generations assets are integrated into trading systems and processes in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Proactive stakeholder engagement with internal and external stakeholders on a regular basis to give updates on status of work items.
  • Working with the other teams across ESB Trading to ensure that all trading processes across Front Office are conducted in a seamless and efficient way in line with any regulatory requirements.
  • Understanding and implementing all necessary regulatory requirements in relation to changes to the market systems.
  • Providing support on designing, managing and integrating larger IT change requests across the trading teams to ensure effective delivery of that change (including impacts on other systems/process)
  • Ensuring that Data Management processes and systems are robust and fit for purpose.
  • Excellent communication skills are required for the role. The ability to support and work effectively with staff at all levels within GT and outside of the organisation is essential.
  • Provide regular updates to the Trading Senior Management team.
  • Provide training to all necessary colleagues in relation to any new systems, system changes and processes.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

 

Essential

 

  • Minimum 7 years relevant work experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience in IT delivery or Project Management
  • Excellent IT skills and understanding of a range of IT software and integration tools
  • Effective stakeholder management
  • Strong analytical capability
  • The ability to solve complex problems involving processes and systems
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage stakeholders
  • Proven ability to work on own initiative and deliver results to strict deadlines
  • Good decision making and problem-solving capability
  • Ability to respond to change within a fast-changing business environment.

 

Desirable

 

  • Experience in operation/maintenance of generating stations
  • Experience/Knowledge of Energy Markets in IRL or GB

 

 

Qualifications

 

Essential

 

  • 3rd Level Qualification in Business, Maths, Computer Science, Engineering or other related quantitative subject, or equivalent, or equivalent work experience.

 

 

Location

 

This position is based in ESB Head Office, Fitzwilliam 27, Dublin 2.

Reporting to

 

The successful candidate will report to the Trading Front Office Manager.

Salary

 

€65,400 - €77,000
