Position Description

Facilities manage and maintain in excess of 140 properties in the ESB Property portfolio, to over 6000 staff across 500,000 square feet of property. They have responsibility for the delivery of a wide range of building related projects to ensure that the ESB Group can deliver its business in well maintained, suitable and safe work places. Across ESB’s large portfolio of buildings, there are a number of projects that require a project manager to deliver capital projects.

 

The role of the Capital Projects Project Manager is to work as part of the Capital Projects team in the role of designer and project manager in multidisciplinary teams delivering projects to ESB group.

 

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Responsible for delivering a series of projects of varying complexity annually as part of the overall Capital Works program in Facilities for a range of internal ESB customers.
  • Assemble appropriate design teams, from professional and construction industry framework panels, to carry out the necessary work and provide the relevant services for projects. Manage these  consultants on each projects in line with ESB policies.
  • Manage teams (including those from professional and construction industry) to ensure that building projects from concept design to completion, are completed on time and within budget.
  • Advise on optimum design solutions for building projects.
  • Managing annual project budgets of up to approx. €2m.
  • Stakeholder Management – inputting regularly to allow Senior Capital Project Manager to report monthly to customers on project progress and issues.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with the planning and building regulatory framework and legislation on projects.
  • Ensure sign off on the various stages of the project with respect to compliance (H&S and Building Regulations).
  • Inputting into a  series of policies and procedures in line with ESB policies and Statutory legislation, to ensure projects are executed in a safe, cost effective, time efficient, professional and compliant manner.
  • Ensuring that Permits to Work are issued and validated at all times during project delivery on ESB premises.
  • Deliver capital projects to ensure a full complete handover to the maintenance phase of the project by other members of the Facilities team including the Hard and Soft Services manager.
  • Working collaboratively with Facility Management team and other ESB teams.
  • Competency to act in the role as Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) on relevant projects.
  • Producing sketch scheme proposals, tender information, construction information, as built information for projects including drawings, specifications, schedules and scope of works documents.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience is essential.
  • Strong experience in construction Project Management.
  • Experience in managing both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in the delivery of building projects related to offices, stores, depots, and protected structures.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding in relation to statutory obligations of Health and Safety legislation and its application in the workplace.
  • Knowledge of IT systems including Autocad, Revit.
  • Ability to plan work to deadlines.

 

Desirable

  • Experience and knowledge of permit to work systems  including assessment of risk assessment and method statements with emphasis on safety.
  • A sound knowledge of legislation relating to planning, construction, health & safety, energy and conservation in buildings.
  • Good interpersonal skills, commercial awareness and the ability to organise and motivate teams.
  • Have a good working knowledge of the legal, regulatory and governance framework within which the ESB operates and adhere to corporate polices, protocols and procedures.
  • Experience in cost management on construction projects.

 

Qualifications

Essential

  • Relevant 3rd Level qualification or equivalent work experience is essential.
  • Competent PSDP.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit.
  • SafePass.

 

Desirable

  • IOSH Managing Safety in Construction.

 

Location

F27 ESB Head Office, Dublin in line with ESBs Smart Working arrangements.

The successful candidate may combine remote / smart working within the jurisdiction, with attendance at base for in-person collaboration, the frequency of which is agreed with the manager and subject to ongoing review.

Salary

€43,000- €51,000 per annum.
