Systems Engineer, End User Computing
Position Description
We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic IT Professional to join our End User Computing team within IT Service Delivery. IT Service Delivery designs, delivers and supports all activities associated with ESB’s IT strategy through innovative IT solutions. We operate one of the most technologically advanced IT and telecommunications infrastructures in the country running over 500 applications as well as being the largest SAP user in Ireland.
The End User Computing team is responsible for managing and maintaining the infrastructure that enables the delivery of ESB’s Digital Workspace. The Digital Workspace is the platform for everyone at ESB that can securely connect them all to their virtual desktops and applications from anywhere in the world using any device. The Digital Workspace virtual desktops come in two flavours non-persistent and persistent, both residing inside the Citrix Farm. It is a fast-paced role involving participation in multiple IT Service Delivery projects. The team leverages a range of technologies in support of the infrastructure including:
• Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops
• Citrix NetScaler
• Ivanti User Workspace Manager
• ControlUp
• Microsoft App-V
• Nutanix
• Microsoft 365
• Applications
This role will provide the opportunity to develop and enhance skills related to the above strategic area. It will also allow the successful candidate to further develop other skills such as stakeholder management, communication skills and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform incident and problem resolution and work with other IT Delivery teams to provide an excellent quality of service to stakeholders
- Proactively monitor the performance and health of the infrastructure and associated applications
- Configuration & installation of operating system images & applications
- Capacity Management of virtualisation infrastructure
- Patching, upgrading and performance tuning of operating system software
- Work with market vendors to obtain relevant market and product updates, assist with service development or troubleshooting analysis and resolution
- Contribution to the delivery of significant projects or tasks within or external to the End User Computing team
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
- Minimum of 3 years' experience supporting and administering Microsoft Windows desktop and server environments while working in an IT Operations, Infrastructure, End User Computing (EUC), or Service Delivery team.
- Recognised third-level qualification in Computing, Information Technology, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems, including Windows Server.
- Proven ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve production issues independently, while escalating appropriately when required.
- Strong understanding of IT change management processes and operational controls.
- Effective communication, stakeholder engagement and documentation skills, including support for audit, reporting and cross-team collaboration.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with a commitment to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
Desirable
- Proven experience of managing a Citrix Farm
- Strong documentation/writing skills, with experience of developing process maps, flow charts, user requirements documentation
- Good knowledge/understanding of the following would be a distinct advantage:

Location:
This position will be based in 27 Fitzwilliam Street Lower, Dublin 2.
Smart Working at ESB is designed to make ‘in-person’ time together as purposeful as possible while also enabling the effective use of digital tools and hybrid arrangements to preserve our commitment to flexibility. The successful candidate may work flexibly within the jurisdiction where they have been employed, with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration at least two days per week. All Smart Working arrangements are subject to regular review based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the business

Salary
€49,800 - €58,600 per annuam (depending on experience)
