Workload Automation & Technical Administrator, Enterprise Applications
Position Description
We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic IT professional to join our Enterprise Application Services Team within IT Service Delivery. Our IT Service Delivery function designs, delivers, and supports all activities aligned with ESB’s IT strategy, providing innovative solutions across the organisation. ESB operates one of the most advanced IT and telecommunications environments in Ireland, supporting over 500 applications and serving as the country’s largest SAP user.
The Enterprise Application Services team manages and supports the Automic Workload Automation platform — a business‑critical enterprise system used extensively across ESB to automate, schedule, and orchestrate workflows and operational processes across numerous IT systems and applications. In this role, you will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimising Automic environments across the enterprise. You will ensure the reliable execution of business‑critical workloads while driving automation maturity through best‑practice configuration, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
In addition to workload automation, the Enterprise Application Services Support team also delivers, manages, and supports ESB’s enterprise file services and print infrastructure.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop and enhance technical skills in workload automation, enterprise services, and platform administration. It also provides scope to build broader capabilities such as stakeholder management, communication, and leadership.
The successful candidate will become a key member of the Enterprise Application Services team and play an important role in supporting ESB’s mission‑critical IT operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and enhance the Automic Automation Engine (AE) platform, including AWI, agents, and associated infrastructure components.
- Perform platform and server lifecycle management, including installation, upgrades, patching, environment refreshes, health checks, and decommissioning activities.
- Design, configure, and optimise automation workflows, schedules, job objects, calendars, events, and reusable automation frameworks to support business operations.
- Monitor and support daily workload execution and operational services, proactively identifying and resolving job failures, performance issues, system alerts, and service disruptions.
- Integrate and support connectivity between Automic and enterprise applications, operating systems, cloud platforms, databases, and APIs, including SAP, Oracle, Linux, and Windows environments.
- Manage print and infrastructure services, including print servers, queues, drivers, deployments, storage utilisation, data migrations, and service availability.
- Ensure compliance, governance, and operational excellence through audit support, documentation management, logging and traceability, backup procedures, archiving, housekeeping activities, and capacity planning.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
- Minimum of 3 years’ hands‑on experience administering and supporting enterprise environments in a production setting, including troubleshooting, patching, security management, automation, and operational support.
- Recognised third‑level qualification in Computing, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex production issues independently, with sound judgement on when escalation is required.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity best practices and secure operational procedures.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills, with a collaborative approach to knowledge sharing and cross‑functional teamwork.
Desirable
- Experience administering Automic Workload Automation or similar workload automation/orchestration tools (e.g., Control‑M, Autosys, Redwood).
- Experience working with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
- Familiarity with enterprise file services, print services, or other shared infrastructure platforms.
- Exposure to ITIL practices or similar structured service‑delivery frameworks.
This position will be based in 27 Fitzwilliam Street, Dublin 2.
