Position Description)

 

Renewable Operations (ESB Generation and Trading) is responsibility for the Operation and Maintenance Management of ESB’s Renewable and Distributed Generation asset portfolio.  

 

As part of delivery of the Net Zero by 2040 Strategy ESB will generate 70% of our electricity generation from renewable assets by 2030. This will involve an increase to +5,000MW of renewable generation, offshore wind, onshore wind and solar. Also developing renewable enabling flexible generation assets including battery energy storage systems, flexible gas plant and grid support devices such as synchronous condensers. 

  

The role of the Operations Mobilisation Manager is responsible for the operations mobilization activities across the Renewable and Distributed Generation sites currently in construction, commissioning and at early operational stage.

 

The operations mobilisation activities include all operational readiness and remote operations requirements and include the early operations phase a number of months after commissioning completion. The Operations Mobilisation Manager is responsible for the overall management and co-ordination of mobilisation activities through the existing Renewable Mobilisation/Site Manager team, coordinating and working with the relevant teams across the Organisation, including the Renewable Operations Centre, EMP Project Teams, Asset Development and others.

  

Key Responsibilities

 

Responsibilities will include the items below:

 

  • Oversee the development and implementation of Mobilisation Plans for new sites. Ensuring that mobilization plans and process include all relevant Safety/Environmental, operational policies and procedures, O&M and engineering documentation and drawings required to be in place for the asset transfer. 
  • Establish and deliver an overall Renewable & Distributed Generation Mobilisation plan for the program of assets in delivery. Establish a program/project for mobilization to operations of the suite of assets.
  • Co-ordinate on-site mobilisation activities in line with EMP project delivery programs for each asset. Ensure clarity on Quality Management, Commissioning Support, Renewable Operations Centre interaction and Testing (System Services and Grid Code Testing).
  • Responsible to ensure the Remote Operation Centre’s Training and Capability requirements are established, captured in the Mobilisation Plans, coordinated and delivered for each asset as required.
  • Programming of all Remote Operations system and process requirements such as Alarm Management, Scada/HMI, EDIL, Standard Operating Procedures, Business Continuity and Emergency Response. Co-ordinate with the Operations Systems team to establish requirements and delivery requirements.
  • Where assets of located on existing generation sites, ensure interface agreements are compiled and agreed for each asset covering Emergency Response, Safety, Environmental Licencing and any Operational Boundary protocols.
  • Ensure all Trading Group requirements pre-commercial operation are programmed and delivered (e.g. Unit Registration, Commercial and Technical Data, Pi)
  • Coordinate the preparation of the Maintenance Management System (Maximo) in advance of commercial operation (Asset Inventory, Preventative Maintenance policies).
  • Work with EMP Asset Specialists where they are required during mobilisation phase, ensuring the mobilisation plan captures agreed interaction and is communicated in advance.
  • Liaise with Renewable Asset Management Teams in asset transfer phase, including transfer of safety file, development of local procedures, early outage planning, closeout of transferred project delivery snags.
  • Ensures Safe System of Work preparation is delivered prior to takeover and all O&M activities onsite during construction & initial operation phase are in compliance with Safety Rules.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders throughout all aspects of mobilisation.
  • Report on status of overall Mobilisation Program in line with project delivery methodology.
  • Input into the engagement and provision of O&M input with Asset Development and E&MP and support delivery of future development options to required standards and aligned with business case assumptions. 
  • Operate as part of the wider Management team in delivering against targets in the Business Plan.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

 

Essential

 

The successful candidate will:

  • Proven ability to deliver on the “key responsibilities” outlined above.
  • 8+ years Energy Industry work experience
  • Experience in Maintenance and Operational requirements of various Generating Technologies.
  • Stakeholder management – internal, external, technology providers/contractors.
  • Experience in the development/construction delivery of power projects.
  • Knowledge of Operational & Project Safety Requirements with Strong safety leadership
  • Knowledge & Experience of Project Management

 

 

Qualifications

 

Essential

 

  • Relevant 3rd Level qualification or equivalent work experience is required.

 

 

 

 

Location

 

The successful candidate will be based at ESB Generation and Trading Offices in Fitzwilliam St., Dublin. Regular travel to sites will be a feature of the role.

Salary 

€71,976 - €84,877 per annum
