Project Engineer - Dispatchable Generation Teams, Asset Development
-
Position Description
Asset Development is shaping ESB’s future portfolio and helping to deliver our Brighter Future strategy. The Dispatchable Generation team develops projects from early concept through to construction, with a strong track record across gas turbine, battery and synchronous compensation projects. The team is now focused on flexible generation and future fuel pathways that can support security of supply today while enabling a lower-carbon electricity system over time.
This is an opportunity to work on high-impact projects that keep dispatchable generation at the heart of a secure, flexible and decarbonising power system, including the transition of gas turbine assets toward lower-carbon and net-zero fuels.
As markets for flexible generation, capacity, system services and future fuels evolve, the team is building a pipeline of dispatchable OCGT generation and emerging technology projects. The successful candidate will help shape practical, investable projects that strengthen security of supply while supporting Ireland’s pathway to net zero.
Working with the Project Director and multi-disciplinary teams, the successful candidate will gain hands-on exposure to the full project lifecycle — from techno-commercial feasibility and stakeholder engagement to planning, design and delivery. The role offers broad collaboration across ESB and the chance to contribute directly to dispatchable generation projects that matter for Ireland’s secure, sustainable and flexible electricity future.
