PMO Team Lead
Position Description
As the custodian of the Project Management Methodology (PMM) in ESB, the Project Management Office (PMO) plays an integral part in the delivery of major projects throughout the organisation. Working closely with the project teams, the PMO specialists provide essential project management support to facilitate best practice management of projects. Given the current expansion in the number of projects being supported by PMO, in parallel with the expansion in PMO team numbers, two new Team Lead positions are now reflected in the design of the PMO organisational structure. The two new PMO Team Leads will lead and manage the PMO specialists who are charged with supporting (i) Generation and (ii) Networks projects, respectively.
In the role of Team Lead, duties include developing and managing the team of direct reports effectively to maximise individual and team potential in order to support all allocated programmes and projects to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities will cover the items below:
Team Lead Specialist responsibilities
- Driving PMM orientation for users within the project management community
- Provision of facilitation services
- Lead out on the application of PMM processes, tools and templates
- Support the Governance & Assurance Manager in project assurance reviews
- Embed feedback / lessons learnt throughout the PMM Project lifecycle to aid continuous improvement of the PMM
- In conjunction with PMO Manager drive the roll-out of PMIS to the PM community.
Team Lead Management Responsibilities
- Onboarding of new joiners to PMO
- Coaching/Mentoring of new joiners to PMO
- Development of the team members including annual OKR reviews, performance management & development, clear goal setting and monitoring, mentoring and coaching
- Work management, including working with PMO Manager to prioritise all internal and external demands and work requests
- Lead out on continuous improvement measures on all aspects of service area
- Resource planning to meet ongoing demands
- Monitoring and reporting on the team's performance and key indicators.
- Responsible for regular engagement and communication with all team members as well as wider network of stakeholders.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
- Minimum of 7 years' relevant experience
- Excellent knowledge of PMM
- High level understanding of ESB Project Delivery infrastructure
- Proven ability to successfully support PMs in the delivery of major capital projects
- Familiar with the ESB health and safety policies and tools.
- Significant experience of working from own initiative and taking ownership of work/projects
- Proven stakeholder management skills
- Excellent communication, reporting and interpersonal skills
Desirable
- Previous project management experience on major construction projects
- Previous experience of leading a team or project
- Experience of and understanding of change management projects
- Strong knowledge and experience of development, construction or overhaul projects
- Previous experience of working in a PMO
Qualifications
Essential
- Third level qualification in Engineering, a Project Management discipline or equivalent work experience.
Desirable
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification
Location
The successful candidate may combine working from home within the Republic of Ireland, with attendance at base (Fitzwilliam 27, Dublin) for in-person collaboration, the frequency of which is agreed with the manager and may change as we learn about hybrid working.
The role may entail travel around Ireland and/or UK. Flexible working arrangements will be considered including geographical base.

Salary
€63,000 to €74,000 per annum
