Position Description

 

 

The Contractor Safety Performance Team Leader will provide leadership and technical guidance to the safety performance team and the wider CPG Safety team in all aspects of safety performance. The Contractor Safety Performance Senior Team Leader will manage their team and work with Contracting Partners Group (CPG) Framework contractors, Project Leaders and Project Managers across ESB Networks and EMP. To support both Contractors and those managing them to achieve safety objectives and to ensure safety performance targets are achieved. The Contractor Safety Performance Senior Team Leader is responsible for driving safety improvement across CPG and promoting a safety culture amongst staff and contractors so that safe behaviour becomes the norm and that the business unit target of zero lost time injuries is achieved.

 

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Drive best practice in safety within the contractor group through the development of strong relationships with Safety Managers and Specialists in the contractor portfolios.

 

  • Implement opportunities for improvement and utilisation across our business and ensure through feedback and lessons learned it develops as our business needs adapt and change.

 

  • Partake in contractor tender evaluations as required and manage the onboarding of any new contractors that have been successful through a tender process ensuring safety critical and relevant roles are fulfilled.

 

  • Monitor both internal policies and external legislation for changes to ensure CPG and contractor safety systems are adhering to changes and ensure our role as Client is fulfilled.

 

  • Provide leadership and direction to the Projects Teams on safety.

 

  • Support the CPG Safety Manager and the CPG Management team in the development and implementation of behavioural safety initiatives.

 

  • Communicate, effective performance of all team members and contractors and compliance with company procedures and processes.

 

  • Support the CPG Safety Manager and the CPG Manager in the ongoing development of the CPG safety strategy to ensure safety performance remains central to the business Strategic development.

 

  • Implement and monitor key performance targets and indicators with respect to safety performance across CPG frameworks assigned safety project.

 

  • Carry out safety and quality audits as per agreed audit schedule and provide feedback on performance.

 

  • Promoting a positive safety culture.

 

  • Lead Safety Towards Zero Accidents.

 

  • Accident Investigation.

 

  • Audit Safety Standards and Performance, this includes OHSMS Internal Audit schedule.

 

  • Promoting safety culture with contractors and others.

 

  • Participate and interface with Safe and Sound teams.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

 

 

Essential

  

  • Minimum 7-10 years relevant work experience is essential.
  • Experience and Knowledge of Transmissions and Distribution Assets.
  • Knowledge of Safety Legislation.
  • Experience and Knowledge of Electrical Safety Rules.
  • Understands and applies the relevant Quality Management Standards. 
  • Assessment of Risk and Application of appropriate controls.
  • Experience of ESB Network’s IT systems.

 

 

Desirable

 

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Offices applications. 
  • Understanding of ESB's Group policies in all dealings with staff, customers, contractors, general public etc. 
  • Familiar with ESB Safety Systems & Processes, SHIELD, Auditing, OHSAS/ISO 45001 etc.
  • Familiarity with Business Systems.
  • Knowledge of Contract Management Procedures.

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Either 3rd Level qualification or equivalent work experience (of a minimum of 7-10 years) is essential.
  • Full driving license.

 

 

 

Location

 

This position is a national role and therefore, the base location is flexible. Nationwide travel will be a feature of this role.

 

 

 

Reporting to

 

The successful candidate will report to the CPG Safety Manager.

Salary

 

€71,000 to €84,000 per annum
