Position Description

 

ESB Asset Development is charged with delivery of the generation assets required to meet ESB’s 2030 Strategy. One key goal of the 2030 strategy is the de-carbonisation of our existing generation assets fleet. To this end we are seeking to increase our Renewable Generation to 3500MW from a current level of circa 1000MW. ESB Asset Development is seeking applications for the roles of Project Manager, Renewables, to be based in our Glasgow office. These are broad-ranging and dynamic roles. The successful applicant(s) will be primarily responsible for the early phase development of new and current onshore wind projects in Great Britain, and potentially other renewable technologies such as Solar and Synchronous Condensers. The role will entail working to deliver construction ready projects both within ESB’s project delivery team, and in collaboration with our external development partners. Co-ordination of multi-disciplinary teams both internal and external will be a feature of these roles.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Overseeing the development of specific Project(s) from initiation of Concept Phase through to Development Phase
  • Oversight of third-party partners and providers of technical services 
  • Implementation of Health & Safety policies and procedures
  • Assisting with landowner negotiations, as well as all other required development agreements.
  • Input into initial Site Feasibility plans
  • Co-ordinating and delivery of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIAR), and planning application preparation
  • External stakeholder management including local communities and local authorities
  • Regular management reporting
  • Familiarity with and ensuring compliance with Project Management procedures
  • Assisting the development of the business case and capital approval process

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

 

Essential

  • At least 5-7 years relevant industry experience with specific experience in delivery of EIA applications.
  • Knowledge and experience of Project Management practice
  • Experience in using GIS or similar programmes
  • Knowledge and Experience of either the wind or solar industry in Great Britain
  • Understanding of power generation business and renewable energy technology
  • Experience of stakeholder engagement and management
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge and experience of the Planning and Environmental Consenting systems in Great Britain

 

Desirable

  • Knowledge of AutoCad Civil 3D, ArcGIS, QGIS, Wind Pro

 

Qualifications

 

Essential

  • 3rd level qualification or equivalent (Engineering, Business or Planning related discipline desirable)
  • Or equivalent work experience is required.

 

Location

 

The successful candidate will be based at the ESB satellite office in Glasgow but will be expected to travel within Great Britain for field work and meetings, as required. Regular travel (up to 2/3 times per month) to ESB Head Office Dublin, will also be required.

General

While initial appointment will be to this position, rotation within Generation & Trading may be a feature of the role
