Onshore Wind Project Manager
Are you looking for a new challenge? We are looking for an Onshore Wind Project Manager to join us on our journey to a Brighter Future. Here in Renewables Projects, we provide project management and engineering services in support of renewable power generation for ESB and external clients.
Working with our colleagues in ESB Asset Development we develop projects as the business case evolves and progress projects based on risks and opportunities. Wind energy has been identified as a key part of ESB’s strategy to increase renewable generation capacity to 5GW by 2030. Projects are expected to be developed from a number of sources including development opportunities and acquisitions.
Due to an increase in the volume of work associated with this programme of projects, a vacancy has arisen for an Onshore Wind Project Manager in Renewable Projects Development (RPD).
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include:
- Leading a project team in the delivery of wind farm projects from early development phase through to construction and compliance testing.
- Supporting the ESB Asset Development Team on achieving viable routes to market for projects such as PPA and CFD Auction process.
- Maintain an accurate resource requirement plan to deliver on commitments and work collaboratively with other teams to obtain the necessary resources and input to the company Strategic Resource Plan.
- Support the development and continuous improvement of expertise and skills within the UK onshore team.
- Take responsibility for project health and safety and lead the implementation of CDM, PSDP or Principal Designer processes across the projects.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
- Seven or more years relevant post-qualification experience.
- A recognised degree level / third level qualification in engineering.
- Excellent leadership skills coupled with a track record in delivering large complex projects, with relevant experience in managing engineering and project teams.
- A strong understanding of the commercial and technical aspects of project design and construction.
- A demonstrable record in the development of health and safety capabilities and their application to large-scale projects including a thorough understanding of CDM.
Desirable
- Experience of working independently from own initiative, taking ownership of work / projects and motivating team members to deliver team objectives or projects.
- Experience of leading the implementation of project management methodologies for projects, providing consistent delivery standards through identification and implementation of clear roles, decision rights and ensuring the right mindsets to deliver project success.
- A good understanding of contracts (TSAs, BOPs and EPCs) including management of same, particularly FIDIC.
- A thorough understanding of onshore wind projects including specific risks associated to development, construction, and operation of onshore wind projects.
- Masters in engineering or related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status with a recognised engineering institution or demonstrate evidence of progression towards same.
- Project Management qualification / certification.
Location
This role is based in the UK in ESB Glasgow office. Travel nationwide & internationally will also be a feature of this role.

Salary
£55,000 - £65,000 Per Annum
