Finance Director, Inch Cape Offshore Windfarm

The Inch Cape Offshore Windfarm is a 1,080MW offshore project which has commenced construction.  Sited off the east coast of Scotland, the project is scheduled to commission in 2027. 

 

 

Position Description

Employed by ESB, you will be seconded to the Inch Cape Offshore Windfarm Project as Project Finance Director.  As part of the project leadership team during construction of the windfarm, you will provide financial leadership and support to the Project Director and project team.  With significant reporting to the project lenders and project board, the role requires a senior finance professional with significant experience, ideally in the energy sector and renewables.

This role is based in Dublin with regular travel to Edinburgh. 

 

 

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of this role include the following:

  • Budget Management: Oversee the preparation and management of the overall construction budget, ensuring alignment with the annual budget, overall project goals and the project budget.
  • Financial Reporting: Ensure accurate and timely sponsor and external financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Bank account management and Project Finance lender reporting
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial risks associated with offshore wind projects.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including investors, regulatory bodies, and project Sponsors.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards relevant to the offshore wind industry.
  • Governance: Ensure the financial controls and governance landscape is appropriately managed, and report to the Board of the Windfarm on a periodic basis
  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.

 

 

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 10 Years experience in Finance, with at least 5 years in a senior role, ideally within the renewable energy sector or in large infrastructure delivery
  • Strong analytical skill, proficiency in financial reporting and long-term financial planning
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound financial decisions under pressure
  • Strong individual leadership skills with a strategic outlook
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder skills

 

 

Qualifications

  • Professional accounting qualification is essential
  • MBA or relevant master’s degree, preferred

 

 

Location

The successful person will be based in Dublin, but the requirements of the role will involve frequent regular travel to Edinburgh, Scotland.

 

 

Reporting Line

For the duration of the secondment, the role will report to the Project Director Inch Cape Joint Venture.
