Position Description

The Incident Investigators will work with the Networks business to support the management and investigation of selected LTI & P1 incidents across ESBN. The successful candidates will help provide assurance that incident investigations are being carried out in accordance with incident investigation standards and procedures. They will also drive a consistent approach to investigations, embedding best practice safety investigation procedures and standards across the business.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide assurance that incident investigations are being carried out in accordance with incident investigation standards and procedures.
  • Co-ordinate incident investigations.
  • Manage investigations to conclusion including use of relevant ESB systems.
  • Ensure effective incident reporting and management.
  • Establish strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Provide expert advice and support including human factor support.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders for continuous improvement.
  • Develop and deliver incident investigation training, build investigation competence, and provide technical training and development support.
  • Promote a positive safety culture, drive behavioural safety improvements, and ensure key learnings are communicated across the business.
  • Through detailed examination of incidents & lessons learned, identify trends & seek out opportunities for improvement within the ESB OHSMS. ​
  • Collaborate with the SH&W team to enhance safety, health, and wellbeing performance.
  • Participate and interface with Safe & Sound leadership teams.
  • Continuously develop and drive safety & health improvements within ESB Networks, and lead safety culture through communications and collaborations.

  

Experience and Qualifications

Essential

  • Either 3rd Level qualification or equivalent work experience.

  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
  • Prior experience in safety incident investigation and safety management
  • Strong stakeholder management & influencing skills.
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills and the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders, managers at all levels, staff and third parties.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training programs related to safety.
  • Strong leadership capability and ability to work on one own initiative.
  • A flexible approach to work.
  • Strong problem solving & decision-making skills.

 

Desirable

  • Good knowledge of the Networks business
  • Experience and knowledge of key safety systems & processes, such as, Risk Assessments, etc.
  • Good IT skills (MS Word, Excel, SharePoint, Microsoft 365, etc).
  • Strong analytical abilities to identify trends, behavioural root causes, and opportunities for improvement. Incident Investigation experience with a good understanding of root cause and Human Factors analysis

 

Location

Flexible within an ESB Networks base.

Salary 

€57,900 – €68,000 per annum
