NW - HV Substations Distribution Stations Specialist, Network Assets (Band 6)
Position Description
Network Assets are responsible for the asset management of ESB Networks portfolio of network assets, including substations, lines and cables and represent the asset owner. The Network Assets team play a key role in defining the design and maintenance policies and standards for the network to ensure a resilient network for all our customers. We play a key role in prioritising network renewal investment and maintenance on our assets based on data driven approaches and technical know-how.
This position is within the HV substations team which defines maintenance policy and standards in relation to substation maintenance on our distribution assets, develops appropriate maintenance solutions to deliver appropriate levels of performance over the asset life cycle and provides support to maintenance delivery functions on maintenance solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a number of key maintenance and asset replacement programmes identified in PR5
- Identify risk associated with HV stations assets and working with relevant stakeholders, lead the development of appropriate maintenance solutions.
- Support the development of annual work and multi-year work programmes through risk-based principles and targeted maintenance interventions
- Ensure that statutory maintenance programmes for the distribution asset base are in place and monitored
- Develop initiatives to allow better condition monitoring of HV station distribution assets and support Asset Health data
- Coordinate multiple stakeholders during response to key technical issues identified in stations
- Develop an appropriate strategic spares plan for distribution assets, including ensuring their state of readiness for deployment
- Carry out periodic review of the obsolescence risk associated with HV Stations assets, including relevant factors
- Lead and support incident investigations associated with HV Stations equipment failure.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
- Knowledge of HV Substation technology and maintenance practices
- 7 years’ experience post qualification experience in a technical role in utilities or industry
- Ability to work within a team environment and manage stakeholders across the business & a strong work ethic with a clear focus on delivery to ESB’s safety, time, quality, and cost objectives
- Excellent communication, IT, problem solving and report writing skills, knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation in the area of maintenance
- Either 3rd Level qualification in engineering or science or equivalent work experience
- Full driving license
Desirable
- Knowledge of Environmental legislation and compliance requirements
- Knowledge of key ESBN business systems, including SAP/ ARM
- Familiarity with HV substation technical & safety related policies/ procedures
- Experience of ESB Procurement procedures & guidelines
- Formal asset management training
- Formal risk assessment training
This position will be based in ESB Networks Leopardstown Road, Dublin 18.
With a focus on supporting Northern regions some routine travel to sites will be required

Salary
€71,000 - €84,000 per annum
