Position Description
The Governance Team ensures that ESB Networks operates strong internal controls, adheres to Authority levels and Group policies, and operates a transparent and robust financial approval process The team is responsible for promoting a culture of good governance and risk management across the business and for managing the financial approvals process, co-ordinating the quarterly Governance ICF sign-off process and supporting the close out of Group Internal Audit actions and Key Control Team’s recommendations.
The Commercial Finance Analyst will play a key role in reviewing, challenging, and co-ordinating the Financial Approval process, while managing and supporting a wide range of stakeholders. The successful candidate will also contribute to broader governance, risk management and control activities as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Co‑ordinate the Financial Approval process, ensuring that submissions are of a high quality, compliant with Financial Authority levels, and approved on SharePoint in a timely manner.
- Provide support and guidance to stakeholders at all levels across the ESB Networks business on all aspects of effective governance and risk management including the approvals process.
- Support the interpretation and application of the ESB Networks Delegated Authority levels and ESB Group Procurement Authority levels.
- Co-ordinate the submission of ESB Networks DAC Board and ESB Board approval papers, ensuring timelines are met and queries from Senior Managers and Board members are addressed promptly.
- Streamline and enhance existing processes, ensuring training materials, procedures and approval checklists are documented, maintained and up to date.
- Support the wider team across governance, risk management and controls testing processes and project activities as required.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
- A recognised professional accounting qualification
- Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience
- Strong commercial acumen
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to problem‑solve, work independently and collaborate effectively within a team
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan and deliver work to required timelines
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and SharePoint
- Ability to work in accordance with agreed guidelines, policies and procedures
Desirable
- Knowledge of the ESB Networks Business
- Experience in governance, risk management or compliance management
Location
This position will be based in ESB Networks, Leopardstown Road, Dublin.
Smart Working at ESB is designed to make ‘in-person’ time together as purposeful as possible while also enabling the effective use of digital tools and hybrid arrangements to preserve our commitment to flexibility. The successful candidate may work flexibly within the jurisdiction where they have been employed, with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration at least two days per week. All Smart Working arrangements are subject to regular review based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the business.
Reporting To
This role will report to the Governance Manager, ESB Networks.

Salary
€59,000 - €70,000 per annum
