Position Description

The Commercial Analyst role forms part of the business support function for the Telecoms group, with responsibility across both regulated and non-regulated activities. Key areas of focus include service-level agreements and pricing, financial reporting and management information, and governance processes including purchase orders. The team also serves as the primary interface with Financial Control and leads the preparation of annual budgets, as well as supporting PR6 Telecoms allowances and regulatory submissions.  

 

Key Responsibilities 

The key responsibilities of this role will include but are not limited to: 

  • Monitor, track, and report regulatory allowance spend against budget and forecasts, ensuring alignment with financial targets. 

  • Collaborate with Financial Control to support the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly financial forecasts. 

  • Support supplier contracts across the Telecoms business, ensuring effective commercial oversight and value delivery. 

  • Oversee Telecoms service agreements, including service catalogues, pricing structures, bid support, and cost modelling and analysis. 

  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance financial performance and commercial efficiency. 

  • Review and evaluate business case proposals to ensure robust financial structure, accuracy, and alignment with strategic objectives. 

  • Produce high-quality reports, presentations, and management information to support decision-making on financial and procurement matters. 

  • Undertake ad hoc finance activities as required by the Commercial Manager. 

 

Experience and Qualifications 

Essential  

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in a commercial, financial analyst, or similar role. 

  • Strong commercial acumen with a clear focus on value and performance. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence effectively. 

  • Demonstrated capability to collaborate with and engage stakeholders across multiple business functions. 

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data, identify key drivers, and present insights clearly and concisely. 

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. 

  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines. 

  • Self-motivated with a flexible approach to workload management. 

 

Desirable 

  • Understanding of compliance, governance, and procurement policies. 

 

Location  

This position will be based in ESB offices, Leopardstown Road. 

Smart Working at ESB is designed to make ‘in-person’ time together as purposeful as possible while also enabling the effective use of digital tools and hybrid arrangements to preserve our commitment to flexibility. The successful candidate may work flexibly within the jurisdiction where they have been employed, with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration at least two days per week. All Smart Working arrangements are subject to regular review based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the business.

Salary 

€59,000 to €70,000 per annum
