Position Description

 

The Dispatcher is involved in all the day-to-day activities of the National Distribution Control Centre and ensures the delivery of operational services to agreed standards. The Dispatcher role is shift work which operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Contacting and dispatching of ESB Networks staff in response to faults and calls from the public reporting emergencies and hazards
  • Interaction with ESB Networks regional staff, Control Room Operators, Call Centre Agents and Emergency Services as required
  • Monitoring, updating and reporting of faults and emergency/hazard calls for ESB Networks
  • Facilitating the effective management of Centralised Network Control and Operations Management System (OMS)
  • Use of other IT systems and applications as required to implement NDCC and Network Operations procedures

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

 

Essential

 

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • A willingness to embrace change and work with new technologies and procedures as they emerge
  • Good IT and computer skills - Windows and Microsoft packages
  • Good at multi-tasking, prioritising, and working under pressure

 

Desirable

 

  • An understanding of ESB Networks Electrical Systems
  • Knowledge of the OMS system would be an advantage but is not a requirement – training will be provided
