Operations Systems & Standards Specialist Networks Performance, Network Operations
Role Description
As we transition our electricity system to a high renewables low carbon system with customers at the centre, we need to maintain operational excellence and ensure security of supply, whilst developing and scaling more flexible demand.
Networks have recently re-aligned our SMT structure to focus on Distribution Markets and System Operation (DMSO) capabilities required to meet the recent Energy Demand Strategy (CRU 21/06/2023) and accelerated Climate Action Plan targets.
The Operations Systems & Standards Specialist will be charged with standardising existing and new Operational practices. The Operations Systems & Standards Specialist will be part of the wider Operations Team with wide ranging responsibility across all voltage levels. The successful candidate will be expected to be experienced in problem identification and have the necessary skills to deliver complex technical solutions. The position will have extensive interactions throughout the business around the country.
Key Responsibilities
- Key Operations contact with the wider DMSO team, providing operational knowledge and guidance where required and embedding new practices into the Operations roles.
- Work with the wider DMSO team on Operations Systems (i.e. SCADA, OMS, Cello etc.) and its application within NDCC.
- Work with NDCC in a standardised approach in the utilisation of Operational Systems and identifying any improvements or issues.
- Development of Operational Instructions templates for generation & demand customers on the Distribution System
- Development of SLD standard configuration for generation & demand customers on the Distribution System
- Development of signal list standards and signal lists for new technology connections
- Provide support to System performance Manager in MV Centralised Control activities.
- Interaction with EirGrid and customers on operational standards
- Input into Operational and Asset Management policy
- Operations briefing and training within ESB Networks
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
- A technical qualification or equivalent work experience
- Full clean driving licence
- 5+ years of relevant work experience
- Strong knowledge of existing operational policies, procedures and Electrical Safety Rules
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and reporting skills
- Knowledge of network assets and standards, substations and protection
- Enthusiastic and motivated team player
- Strong IT skills and technical capability
Desirable
- Knowledge of Operations Technology/Systems i.e., SCADA System and OMS/NMS.

Salary
Starting from €55,000 per annum
