Position Description

The Generation Policy Lead will drive the development of the electricity policy required due to the changing energy landscape as different technologies from utility scale down to community citizens seek connection to the network.  A key feature of this role will be engaging with CRU and industry bodies (WEI, Solar Ireland, ESI etc.) on charging and rebating policy and its development in the context of the different energy consumers connecting to the distribution system.

The Generation Team to which this role is part of is responsible for all regulated generator connection and charging policy, both in terms of application of existing policy and development of new regulated policy. The Generation Policy Lead is responsible for leading engagement with CRU, DECC, EirGrid, WEI, SI, ESI and other key stakeholders and customers in relation to same.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the development and implementation of charging policy changes required to support the increase in generators connecting to the network.
  • Drive the development and implementation of connection policy changes required to support the increase in renewables connecting to the network.
  • Develop the connection agreement changes required to incorporate charging policy and rebating policy associated with connecting generators
  • Work closely with Technical Costing Unit in the development of generation connection charges 
  • Support the development of flexible connections and associated support contracts for generators participating in flexibility markets.
  • Shape Generation Connection Policy in collaboration with CRU and industry stakeholders
  • Support the development of a streamlined connection offer and charging policy for active community citizens.
  • Support the development of future Renewable Energy Support Scheme Auctions in collaboration with DCEE and other key stakeholders. 
  • Lead engagement with CRU, DECC, EirGrid and other key stakeholders on generator grid connection policy

 

Experience and Qualifications

Essential

  • At least 7 years’ experience, and a wide energy industry perspective
  • Strong commercial focus
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities
  • Highly motivated – able to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Extremely strong communications and report writing skills
  • Either 3rd Level qualification or equivalent work experience

 

Desirable 

  • In-depth knowledge of the energy policy and in particular, relation to Enduring Connection Policy

 

Location

This position is based in Leopardstown Road

Salary 

€69,000 - 81,000 per annum.
