Position Description


The role of the Networks Programme area is to manage the delivery of work programmes within Regulatory funding. Ensuring that work programmes are prioritised to reflect business strategy, policies, plans, and procedures for the safe and cost-effective delivery of business goals. This requires communication with stakeholders to ensure that all stakeholders are aware of their regulatory obligations, while ensuring that the regulatory tracking process is maintained and conforms to requirements.


The Professional Engineer will project manage the Project Development Phase and is responsible for delivering large scale, high value projects to Capital Approval and continual oversight during project lifetime. This Professional Engineer position in the Networks Programmes team will manage both Transmission and Distribution System projects.



Key Responsibilities


  • Ensure that agreed programmes of work are delivered in accordance with the Regulatory Framework
  • Interface and coordinate with key stakeholders within Network Assets, Networks Customer Delivery, Engineering and Major Projects and EirGrid to ensure delivery of programmes, including co-ordination of site kick off meetings & reviewing scopes of work.
  • Production and issue of Capital Approvals and Project Agreements from Technical Approval or Committed Project Parameters for Distribution and Transmission projects
  • Presenting to the monthly Project Approval Board or Strategic Project Board, as required
  • Ability to manage complex projects with tight deadlines
  • Monitor the achievement of targets, budgets & controls and report on these as required.
  • Carry out Regulatory Tracking & unit cost analyses.
  • Challenge the need, cost & regulatory value of any proposed projects
  • Participation in developing the annual work plan and budget
  • Liaising with the Delivery Organisations, Finance, Operations and Asset Managers to ensure alignment on projects
  • Support delivery in terms of Change Requests and AEA’s throughout project lifetime

  • Improving and developing processes around the Owners Engineer role including Working Group participation as required.



Knowledge, Skills and Experience




  • 3 to 5 years relevant experience
  • Strong Stakeholder Management skills
  • High level of commitment and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to act independently and take initiative.
  • Process Management Ability




  • Broad understanding of Transmission and Distribution Network Technologies
  • Knowledge of the Regulatory Framework
  • Good computing skills ideally including SAP and EXCEL





Level 8 Engineering Degree or equivalent is essential




  • Chartered Engineer status
  • Project Management qualification
