Contractor Safety Compliance Auditor [Station Electrical Civils] [Temp 12-Month]
Position Description
The Contractor Safety Compliance auditor (Stations Electrical & Civils) leads and promotes a safety culture amongst stations electrical and stations civil contractors so that safe behaviour becomes the norm and that the business unit target of zero lost time injuries is achieved.
Ensuring capability and competence of contracting resources is a key component of the role and the Safety Compliance auditor will manage the compliance of all Stations framework contractors in an efficient manner and to the highest safety standards through consistent auditing. The Safety compliance auditor will also partake in any incident investigations as required.
The Contractor Safety Compliance Auditor (Stations Electrical & Civils) will also provide safety and technical expertise support to the CPG Training and Approvals team.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out and scheduling safety and quality audits per agreed audit schedules and feeding back audit performance to staff and contractors.
- Supports and coaches’ contractors on safety, standards, training and performance.
- Support the Contractor Approvals Team Leader in the development of CPG Safety strategy to ensure safety training and assessment policies and procedures remain relevant to our contractor delivery strategy.
- Conduct safety and technical assessments on all Stations framework contractors.
- Use appropriate IT systems to assist in the management of day-to-day activities.
- Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide clear, timely communications to all Stations framework contractors and invite feedback.
- Monitor and report on progress against key activities.
- Flexibility in managing additional tasks, as may be assigned from time to time.
- Influence policies and procedures.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
- Advanced Level 6 Electrical Craft Certificate/A suitable Level 7 or higher qualification in Electrical, Electrical Services, Electronics, Mechanical or other suitable alternative qualification with a sizeable electrical theory content.
- Minimum of 4 relevant years’ experience is essential.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Full clean EU driving licence. Travel required.
Desirable
- ESB IT Systems and Applications knowledge.
- Knowledge of standards for Poling on the Overhead Electricity Network.
- Knowledge of OHL Network Assets.
- Knowledge of the Safety Rules and Procedures.
- ESB Networks Business knowledge.
- Knowledge of ESBN Network Operations and Procedures.
- Contractor and Service Provider Management experience.
- Arboriculture Timber cutting standards and safety requirements.
Location
The position is a national role and therefore the base location is flexible. Nationwide travel will be a feature of this role.
General
While initial appointment will be to the position of Contractor Safety Compliance Auditor, rotation within ESB Networks will be a feature of the role.
It is not anticipated that a staff member still on probation (either new entrant probation or a probation from a previous promotion) will be eligible to apply for a promotional vacancy.
Typically, an individual must have completed their probation and should have at least two years’ experience in their current role before being eligible to apply for a promotion.
An application from a staff member who does not meet the above criteria must have the approval of both the senior line manager and the HRM within the BU before progressing to application.

Salary
€59,000 - €70,000 per annum
