Key Responsibilities 

 

Responsibilities will cover the items below:  

 

  • Undertake market review of best-in-class risk management procedures and systems for offshore wind projects
  • Establishing and embedding risk management policies and procedures and develop them throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Establishing and implementing a risk management process across offshore wind project portfolio from early development phase through construction to commercial operation. This includes facilitation of risk workshops on package and project level as well as commercial valuation/modelling of risks. 
  • Developing and instilling a positive risk management culture and risk appetite where risks are anticipated and reported on, opportunities are identified, and lessons are learnt.  
  • Creation and Management and of the Project Risk Register. Ensuring that all risk response plans are executed. Coordinate the updating of inputs required for modelling.  
  • Ensure that the project(s) identify appropriate mitigation strategies to minimise the impact of adverse events that occur throughout the lifetime of the project. Ensure that a suitable level of financial contingency is adopted. 
  • Formalise the risk strategy and to identify opportunities and exploitation strategies to optimise the configuration, performance, and delivery of the project.
  • Support the technical and commercial decision making so that risk strategy and profile of the projects is maintained. 
  • Managing and facilitating risk and scenario modelling to determine project confidence data as required.  
  • Financial contingency management based on probability-weighted risk analysis and close collaboration and alignment with relevant interfaces (project cost controlling/commercial management, project planning and scheduling).  
  • Collating, integrating, evaluating, and reporting project risks (across financial, programme, HSE, environmental and reputation categories), identifying trends and ensuring that this information is readily available to all stakeholders. 
  • Providing support and training to the project teams on the tools used to capture and manage project risks. 
  • Develop and manage the QRA models for offshore wind farm projects. 
  • Preparation and submission of relevant monthly reports. 
  • Maintaining & updating risk management processes and procedures. 
  • Work with internal and external (contractor) teams to identify & deliver risk mitigation strategies. 
  • Maintain a strong understanding of offshore wind macroeconomic environment and applicable policy regimes. 
  • Assist the project in the project finance process; conduct scenario and sensitivity analysis to facilitate key decisions. 
  • Facilitate and contribute to Lessons-Learned workshops and knowledge capture tools.  

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience 

 

Essential  

 

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to take an authoritative stance when reviewing others’ assessment of risk quanta & probabilities, and able to constructively challenge and persuade others to reconsider their viewpoints. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, well organised and self-motivated with the ability to work as part of a team.  
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.  
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to distil large amounts of information into key messages. 
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to bring disparate groups together to achieve a common goal.  
  • Experience in developing and performing project risk analysis. 
  • Expertise in the offshore wind industry and/or other offshore infrastructure projects. 
  • The ability to work well under pressure to tight deadlines.  

 

Desirable 

 

  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel and @risk, Pertmaster (or similar) Monte-Carlo tools; experience with Prism an advantage. 
  • Experience in projects funded by project finance (lenders). 

 

 

Qualifications 

 

Essential 

  • Degree-level qualification in a finance, engineering or business discipline.  

 

  

Desirable   

 

  • Membership of relevant professional institution (APM, ICOSTE or similar)  
  • APM Risk Manager certification  

 

 

Location 

 

The successful candidate may combine working from home within the Republic of Ireland, with attendance at base in EMP, Dublin Airport, the frequency of which is agreed with the manager and may change as we learn about hybrid working.

 

The role will likely involve travel. Travel internationally will also be a feature of this role.

 

 

Salary

 

€65,000 - €77,000
