Senior Team Leader, Substations
The HV Substations Delivery and Design Contracting departments in Networks Engineering, ESB Engineering & Major Projects are responsible for the design of high voltage transmission and distribution substations assets for ESB Networks. This includes both conceptual and detailed engineering design, design safety management, project programming and commercial management. Collaboration with a range stakeholders is a key function of this role including Networks Project Delivery and other external delivery services and contingent labour providers.
The STL is responsible for the forecasting, resourcing, work integration, quality assurance and auditing of the team deliverables. The STL will co-ordinate the implementation of current and new standards with all the relevant stakeholders in ESB Networks and Networks Project Delivery. The STL is responsible for the day-to-day management of the substation design team to carry out role of Lead Engineer and all relevant activities required by the team to successfully deliver the portfolio of projects.
Key Responsibilities
The Senior Team Leader – Electrical will lead a team of specialists and engineers to provide specialist design solutions for our substation projects. Responsibilities include:

Managing a multidisciplinary team of engineers and specialists to deliver the PR6 work programme in accordance with ESB’s Brighter Future Strategy.

Managing and co-ordinating all relevant activities by the team required to successfully deliver projects to the approved scope, budget and programme.

Providing leadership and technical guidance to team members in all aspects of design, project programming, commercial management, design review, training, development, mentoring and interfacing with stakeholders .

Providing the day-to-day management of specialist work streams and the approval of all the key work outputs.

Managing the technical capability retention of the team by developing technical capability development road maps aligned with the group’s Strategic Resource Plans.

Providing Health and Safety Leadership to the team and ensuring safety management in line with Construction Regulations.

Managing technical and non-technical stakeholders across E&MP and Contractors.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
-
A minimum of Seven years’ experience in substation design.
-
Proven ability to work in a team to a high level of performance.
-
A strong understanding of all elements of substation tendering and tender evaluations, scoping, planning, design, costing, construction and commissioning.

A strong work ethic with a clear focus on delivery to ESB’s safety, time, quality and cost objectives.

Strong commercial and project management capability.

The demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.

A flexible approach to work, especially where necessary to delivery excellent customer service.

Excellent communication and report writing skills.

A proven track record of success contributing to the training and development of technical professionals.

Qualifications
Essential
Either 3rd Level Electrical Engineering qualification or equivalent work experience is essential
Location
This role is based in EMP Dublin or Cork Offices but travel to project locations as required, is a key requirement of the role

Salary
€69,000 to €81,000 per annum
