Join our dedicated team where we provide specialist engineering services to our Networks business The team specialises in;


  • Conceptual and detailed engineering design 

  • Development of project scope and costs based on technical approvals or committed project parameters. 

  • Project programming and commercial management. 


A permanent position has arisen for a Professional Engineer to join the Project Development Team to manage the project development deliverables required to meet ESBN’s Capital Approval process. 



Key Responsibilities 


Responsibilities will include the items below:  


  • Contributing to the end project deliverables during the Project Development phase, in particular business case success measures including time, cost, scope, quality and PSDP activities. 
  • Assist with the developing the Project Brief as set out by Network Assets and/or EirGrid into a viable Project Management Plan ready to transition from Project Development to Project Delivery stage. 
  • Delivering assigned tasks, such as the Conceptual physical designs, Scope of Works, Project Costs and Project Management Plans to agreed target timelines. 
  • Feed into the overall project deliverables for all stakeholders, coordinating inputs with the relevant stakeholders at project development stage. 
  • Meet and not exceed the requirements of the Project Brief from Networks Assets and/or Eirgrid. 



Knowledge, Skills and Experience 


Working as part of this dynamic team, you will always have new challenges and new problems to solve – working together is key.  You will have the autonomy to choose how best to tackle tasks and solve problems with the support of your colleagues. 

We are looking for the following skills;  


  • Strong technical knowledge with a minimum of three years post graduate experience.   

  • A proven track record in delivering transmission & distribution engineering projects with an understanding of substation design and construction. 

  • Experience with a range of designs including transmission or distribution projects, including for example; (38 kV, 110 kV, and 220 kV substation design). 

  • An understanding of all elements of transmission & distribution scoping, planning, design, costing, construction and commissioning. 
  • A full clean Irish/EU driving licence 
  • Flexibility to travel nationwide




It is preferred that the candidate has achieved the following:


  • PSDP Competency HV1 & HV2 (desirable), or CDMC equivalent 
  • Site Working Competencies (desirable). 







  •  Level 8 Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience is essential  





Our offices are at One Dublin Airport Central or Eastgate Cork. €43,000 to €51,000 per annum
