SCADA Team Member, Operations Systems, DMSO
Position Description
The successful candidate will be part of the Operations Systems Support team based in Leopardstown Road. The candidate will be responsible for all Operations Technologies currently in operation and will work across all aspects of the various operations systems used for the safe and effective management of the distribution system.
The position will concentrate primarily on support of the ESB Networks SCADA system. The SCADA system is used for remotely monitoring and operating substations and distribution automation devices from the National Distribution Control Room control rooms. The position will include data engineering, picture building, system and database administration, support, maintenance, commissioning and project work/system upgrades.
This position will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to develop/enhance the following skills:

Key Responsibilities
- Manage 24x7 support of the SCADA systems.
- Contribute to the development & implementation of operations systems to meet ESB Networks' overall strategy for the safe management and operation of the distribution system or similar.
- Provide support to ensure the smooth roll out and reliable operation of the SCADA, NMS and Distribution Automation Systems nationally.
- Stay abreast of best practice developments in network operation systems.
- Ensure effective use of systems by users through the provision of training programmes.
- Contribute to ESB Networks strategy in the deployment of technologies for enhancing quality of service to customers.
- Contribute to the development of advanced network systems and devices.
- Leverage the existing Operations Technologies to drive benefit for all other areas of the business.
- Work to integrate the existing Operations Technologies into other business systems.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
- Minimum of three years post-graduate experience in Operations Technology.
- Level 8 qualification in Engineering
- Proven ability to deliver on the “key responsibilities” outlined above.
- A knowledge of SCADA systems.
- A knowledge of substation RTUs and SCS systems.
- Knowledge of substation control wiring and equipment.
- Knowledge of Operations and commissioning practice.
- A strong work ethic with a clear focus on delivery to ESB Networks safety, time, quality and cost objectives.
- The demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- Self starter with ability to manage own work and support others within project team.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication and report writing skills.
Experience and Qualifications
Desirable
- Experience in control centre SCADA, OMS and telecommunications.
- Knowledge of Networking, TCP/IP and internet technology.
- Understanding of industry standard SCADA communication protocols, e.g. IEC 60870-5-101, 104 and IEC 61850.
- Familiarity with Unix, Linux or similar Operating Systems.
- Oracle RBMS and SQL knowledge while not essential would be an advantage.

Salary
€49,000 - €56,000 per annum
