Position Description

 

The Networks Training Centre (NTC) is a key ESB Networks facility that supports the delivery of training and development programmes for staff across the organisation. The centre provides a controlled indoor and outdoor training environment, incorporating classrooms, stores, equipment and training fields, to enable the safe and effective delivery of technical, operational and safety‑focused training essential to ESB Networks’ operations.

 

The Training Facilities Support Team Member plays an integral role in enabling this activity by providing effective operational and logistical support to training delivery teams. The role is responsible for maintaining high standards of security, complying with established work practices, and ensuring robust controls are consistently applied across both indoor and outdoor training environments. 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

The key responsibilities of the role will include:

 

  • Maintaining custody and ensuring the security of tools, equipment and materials held within stores and training facilities.
  • Ensuring stores areas, the Training Centre and NTC grounds are maintained in a clean, safe and orderly condition at all times.
  • Coordinating the regular inspection of equipment, tools and machinery and overseeing general maintenance activities as required.
  • Implementing and adhering to stores procedures and regulations
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and implementing initiatives to enhance ways of working, quality, consistency and process effectiveness.
  • Operating and using computer systems, forklifts and other stores handling equipment in line with training and safety requirements.
  • Providing operational and logistical support to the Training Officer team, including the opening and closing of the Training Centre.
  • Managing the collection and delivery of post
  • Supporting the upkeep and maintenance of the training field.

 

Experience and Qualifications

 

Essential

 

  • A minimum of two years’ relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving capability, with the ability to identify and resolve issues in a practical and effective manner.
  • Proven ability to work on own initiative, managing tasks independently while knowing when to escalate issues appropriately.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing tasks in a busy, operational setting.
  • A proactive, flexible and professional approach to work, with a strong focus on safety, quality and service delivery.
  • An understanding of, or experience in, stores or facilities operations
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of staff groups and stakeholders.
  • A full, clean Category B Driving Licence.

 

 

Desirable

  • A Forklift Licence or experience operating material handling equipment.
  • Category C Driving Licence.
  • 180° machine operator certification.
  • Craft qualification or recognised trade background. 

 

Location

This is a full-time onsite role, based at the Networks Training Centre in Portlaoise.

Salary 

€33,000 to €40,000 per annum
