Position Description

 

Electrification of transport is a key pillar of ESB’s Net Zero Strategy – reducing the carbon impact from transport and improving air-quality while growing our business.  ecars operates the largest public Electric Vehicle (EV) charging network on the island of Ireland and is also expanding its network and operations in Great Britian.  ecars has over 1000 chargers currently in operation with an ambitious investment program to support the continued growth of its networks.

 

Reporting to the ecars Revenue & Payments Manager, the Payments Manager is responsible for the management of all supplier and lease payments.  The Payments Manager is also responsible for the calculation and payment of revenue / margins share provisions which must be evaluated and paid in accordance with contractual commitments.  The Payments Manager will ensure that all suppliers and lease contracts are onboarded and set up appropriately on relevant systems and that all contractual payment terms are met on time and manage supplier / lease payment disputes or queries.

 

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Capability Building Develop a multi-skilled team across the business to build a resilient Payments and Revenue Control function.

Process & Control Implementation Develop and embed robust end-to-end payments and lease management processes. Develop internal controls across payments function including reconciliation for B2C and B2B channels. Lead payments budgeting and IBP forecasting for all expenditures, including third-party services, lease payments, and site rentals.

Contract Compliance & Payment Accuracy Ensure timely, accurate supplier and landlord payments (ensuring payments are accurate and approved and are in line with contractual terms through a strong control framework that mitigates breach risks. Ensure PO creation, supplier onboarding, documentation control, and timely execution of approved payments.

Reconciliation & VAT compliance:  Implement systematic reconciliation processes to validate system accuracy and proactively monitor for irregularities. Ensure VAT is implemented accurately in the systems and that monthly calculations are accurate.

Oversee monthly reconciliation processes, ensuring all payments and bank transactions are accurately matched and recorded in SAP.

Continuously evaluated and optimised payment mechanisms, enhancing process efficiency (including automation) and reducing financial risk.

Governance, Risk & Reporting Support internal governance through risk log oversight, maintenance of the Risk Control Matrix, and delivery of monthly and quarterly reports.

 

Experience and Qualifications 

  • Degree level or higher qualification in business, finance, accounting or relevant field.
  • Proven experience (7+ years) in relevant roles commercial experience)
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills.

 

Location

The role will be based in ESB’s Offices in Swift Square but given the geographic distribution of ecars’ VE charging network, travel in Ireland and the UK will be a feature of this role. Occasional wider travel will also be required such as visits with suppliers.

Salary

€69,000 – €81,000 per annum
