Position Description

The Role of the Material Services Supervisor (MSS) is to develop and manage a Supply Chain Team effectively in order to deliver all work programmes to the highest standards while maximising Team Performance. The MSS has responsibility for the safe and cost-effective management of material under their control.

  

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team in a safe and cost-effective handling and storage of material, ensuring compliance with Environmental legislation
  • Develop excellent relationships with the delivery organisation and positively influence the material planning process
  • Utilise EWM/SAP and other systems for effective material management, ensuring accurate stocking levels are maintained and stock takes / reconciliations are carried out as required
  • Co‑ordinate material deliveries and movements across the DSS Warehouse, Logistics Team and Depots and respond effectively to emergency material requirements (e.g., storm situations)
  • Co-ordinate and lead Process Changes
  • Schedule and allocate tasks to team members
  • Take responsibility for team performance by agreeing, implementing and monitoring individual and team goals
  • Coach and support team members to enhance performance, promote collaboration, and foster an open working environment
  • Communicate clearly and in a timely manner, encouraging feedback and ensuring relevant information is shared within and beyond the team
  • Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Monitor key activities and report on progress
  • Assist the relevant Manager with key projects as needed

 

 

Experience and Qualification

Essential 

  • Minimum of 5 years Supply Chain/Logistics experience
  • Prior experience in Supply Chain people management or significant ESB Supply Chain expertise.
  • Strong IT capability, particularly in the use of SAP and Microsoft Office applications in particular Microsoft Excel
  • Proven ability to use data and analytics to support effective decision‑making and problem‑solving
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, on both a personal and a team basis, including the completion of safety audits, safety performance reviews and safety coaching
  • Ability to lead, manage, and motivate a team, with experience in developing, training, and mentoring new and existing staff
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong stakeholder‑management capability
  • Highly motivated, adaptable, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
  • Willingness to learn, develop, and support continuous improvement
  • Full, clean driving licence

 

 

Desirable

Qualification in Supply Chain Management or equivalent work experience

Position is based in one of the following ESB Depots:

  • Cork
  • Tralee
  • Killarney

National Depots Manager

Salary

€49,000 - €56,000 per annum.
