Position Description

The successful candidate will be an experienced Project Manager who will support the delivery of the contracted work programme for Delivery South. They will have commercial knowledge of the business to ensure projects and associated packages of designs, interactions with technical advisors/suppliers are managed efficiently, to best industry standards, safely and within budget.

The successful candidate will ensure that Projects are managed Safely and in adherence with ESB’s Contractor Management Principles.  This will include ensuring best practice file and document management, conducting contractor audits and co-ordinating contractor competency assurance.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated, innovative, commercially driven and have a track record of successfully delivering technical design/construction projects.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • At every stage of the project lifecycle, safety, health, environmental, construction and operational risks must be identified and addressed through the design and decision-making process
  • Lead on the coordination of, scoping, review and management of all contracted projects delivered by the region – including preparation of technical documentation and specifications for internal or contractor's use
  • Co-ordination of outages, materials, internal resource requirements for each project
  • Co-ordinate review of substation/electrical system designs and installation methodologies with respect to the Employer's Requirements
  • Perform technical review of Capital Work Programmes in conjunction with Network Asset managers and Technical Managers, estimate contractor resource requirements
  • Contribute proactively to the delivery of all contractor delivered projects by the region in a safe and timely manager minimising the cost of energy over the life of the project
  • Integrate the HSE and environmental requirements set out by the project into the electrical system delivery strategy; provide package support to their development where necessary. Input into a risk register, HSE assessments and issues log. Provide updates to SMT on project energisations and impending work programmes 
  • Engage effectively with external stakeholders, including contractors, suppliers and technical advisors, to support the safe, timely and efficient delivery of projects

 

Experience and Qualifications

Essential

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in engineering or a related area.
  • 3rd level qualification in engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with modelling, scheduling and analysis of projects and project programmes.
  • Experienced in contract preparation and evaluation.
  • Proficient in H&S standards for terrestrial projects.
  • Strong stakeholder management capability and good communication skills.
  • Strong project and programme management capability.
  • Experience in negotiating agreements and contracts of significant value.
  • Full clean EU driving licence. Travel required.

 

Desirable

  • Project Management Qualification.
  • Technical design certification processes.  

 

Location
Location is flexible but a base within the Southern geographic region as the role is required. Regular travel to site and regional offices will be a feature of the role.

Smart Working at ESB is designed to make ‘in-person’ time together as purposeful as possible while also enabling the effective use of digital tools and hybrid arrangements to preserve our commitment to flexibility. The successful candidate may work flexibly within the jurisdiction where they have been employed, with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration at least two days per week. All Smart Working arrangements are subject to regular review based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the business.

Salary

€86,000 - €101,000 per annum.
