Energy Services Technical Specialist
Position Description
The ESB Smart Energy Services (SES) business offers integrated energy management solutions for large energy users in Britain and Ireland. SES designs, develops and delivers tailored solutions which include energy efficiency, on-site generation and demand management technologies and we work in partnership with our customers to create long term shared value. In parallel with this, SES delivers Energy Credits to meet Electric Ireland’s Energy Efficiency Obligation Scheme (EEOS) commitments.
We are seeking a suitably qualified Energy Services Technical Specialist to join our Energy Credits team with responsibility for the delivery of the Residential and Energy Poverty Credits targets. Projects handled by the Energy Credits team vary across multiple technology types, thus a good understanding of energy, mechanical and electrical systems is desirable. The successful candidate should have strong analytical skills with the ability to determine the appropriate and most cost-effective approach to meeting the credits targets.
This role requires close collaboration and engagement with our energy partners to ensure the delivery and quality assurance of the energy credits. Stakeholder management and communication is key to success in the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Energy Credits targets (Residential Sector): Procure energy credits to meet Electric Ireland’s obligations under the Energy Efficiency Obligation Scheme
- Manage Energy Credit Partners: Oversee performance, ensure compliance with EEOS requirements, and maintain strong working relationships.
- Manage Auditing Partner: Coordinate audits, ensure data integrity, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Manage SEAI Scheme Data Uploads: Oversee the preparation, validation, and timely upload of all scheme-related data to SEAI’s Energy Credit Management System (ECMS), ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with regulatory reporting standards.
- Contract & Budget Management: Handle all financial aspects of contracts, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- KPI Tracking & Reporting: Collect, analyze, and report on key performance indicators to internal stakeholders.
- Internal Communication: Keep all relevant internal teams informed about progress, risks, and opportunities.
- Residential Credits Liaison: Act as the primary contact for SES, ensuring smooth delivery of EEOS credits and alignment on targets and reporting.
- SEAI Residential Queries: Serve as the main point of contact for all residential inquiries from the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI), ensuring timely and accurate responses.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
- Level 8 Engineering Degree or Equivalent Experience is essential
- Understanding of mechanical and electrical systems used in industry and building energy service
- Excellent numeracy and analytical skills
- Excellent interpersonal and written communications skills
- Understanding of Energy Efficiency and related technologies in industry
- Strong communications skills
- Strong customer service focus
- Excellent planning and organising skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong IT skills, particularly Excel
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Full clean driving licence
Desirable
- Certified Energy Manager
- Familiarity with the Irish Energy Efficiency Obligation Scheme
- CMV Practitioner (2 Week Course & Exam)
- 3-5 years relevant experience

Travel may be required from time to time.

Salary
€48,000 – €56,000 per annum
