Position Description 

Electricity Supply Board (ESB) was established in 1927 as a statutory corporation in the Republic of Ireland under the Electricity (Supply) Act 1927. With a holding of 95%, ESB is majority owned by the Irish Government. The remaining 5% is held by the trustees of an Employee Share Ownership Plan.  ESB's  purpose is to lead the transition to reliable, affordable, low-carbon energy for the customers and communities we serve. ESB Customer Solutions develops, markets, sells and services innovative energy supply and service offerings through all of ESB’s customer-facing brands in Ireland and the UK. This includes business lines such as eCars, Smart Energy Services, ESB Telecoms Ltd and the Electric Ireland retail businesses operating in RoI and NI.


Sitting within the Business Marketing Team, the B2B Marketing Executive will be responsible for developing marketing campaigns and strategies to deliver on the agreed brand and business goals for the B2B segments within ESB Group such as Electric Ireland Business Markets, ESB International, ESB Telecoms and Smart Energy Services. These exciting and challenging areas of our business require a creative, commercially driven, digital savvy marketing professional that can work with a variety of stakeholders across different markets to develop innovative marketing plans that drive awareness, engagement and sales.


Key Responsibilities 

  • Segment Marketing Strategy & Delivery: Actively input into the development and implementation of marketing strategies and plans for assigned brands and market segment to achieve commercial business goals.

  • Digital Campaigns: Take ownership of digital marketing campaigns from planning to implementation. Including KPI’s setting, agency/graphics/stakeholder collaboration, audience selection, copy creation, creative execution, targeting, publishing of campaigns and reporting post campaign results and insights.

  • Marketing Communications: Where appropriate, work in conjunction with the Marketing Communications Team to develop marketing communication campaigns and plans, and monitor performance of campaign activity, finding areas of opportunity or enhancement.  

  • Website: Manage, design, build, edit, curate and maintain ESB’s website pages/content ensuring optimised tagging and SEO for increased search rankings. Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure an ‘always up to date’ approach and an alignment with bids and campaigns. Work closely with IT to identify, resolve and retest any technical issues with the back or front end of the website.

  • Reporting: Track and report on campaign KPI’s to maximise return on investment (ROI) and to deliver brand awareness, engagement, click through and ultimately drive sales. Report on these results to the management team of each business units. Report on these results to the management team of each business units.

  • Content Creation: Create engaging and relevant content for a variety of touchpoints via a variety of formats such as website, blogs, news stories, social media, press releases, sales brochures, sales collateral, EOI’s (Expressions of Interest) and bids. To include writing and editing copy while working with the graphics team/digital agency/videographers/photographers to develop best in class and engaging communications in various formats. Through creative copy writing adapt complex technical messaging into clear and simple customer communication.

  • Events: Project management of B2B events such as attendance at conferences, webinars, customer family events, panel discussion participation, client visits, networking events and internal events. Ensuring all Senior Stakeholders in attendance are well briefed in advance of the event. Ensure all opportunities for maximising positive brand exposure are delivered via social media content creation and promotion and through supporting event collateral.

  • Stakeholder Management: Work closely with a wide variety of stakeholders including senior management for each business.

  • Support the development of go-to market strategies for product launches or new initiatives ensuring a customer centric approach which is on brand and has consistent messaging.

  • Brand: Manage the different brands across all markets ensuring all communications are consistent, within guidelines.

  • Internal Communications: Manage internal communications on behalf of the business segments working closely with the respective internal communications managers to ensure the work of each business is profiled across internal channels such as Yammer, the hub, monthly email updates and Electric Mail.

  • Flexibility / Team Approach: Proactively engage and contribute to other projects within the business marketing team and assist other teams across the wider business units as required including sales, service, business development, internal communications, operations, and projects teams.

  • Budget: Manage and report on budgets including business case creation, budget tracking, cost management and monitoring ROI against campaign targets.  

  • Customer Insights: Undertake research in partnership with ESB’s Marketing & Customer Insights Team. Understand and extract insights and embed into future marketing activities across different markets, championing a customer–centred perspective in business decision making and operations.  


Knowledge, Skills and Experience 


  • 3-4 years of relevant work experience. 

  • B2B marketing experience. 

  • Digital marketing expertise and technical understanding of digital channels/tactics. 

  • Experience using google and social media analytics. 

  • Website and content development.  

  • A creative thinker with experience in creating and curating engaging and informative content and copy across a variety of external and internal comms channels. 

  • Proven experience in distilling complex topics and technical information into concise and compelling stories that drive sales/engagement/awareness across a variety of channels, formats and markets.  

  • Event management experience and ability to influecene senior stakeholders. 

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on stakeholder management communications skills and the ability to influence senior stakeholders. 

  • Problem solving and analytical skills. 

  • Proven ability to deliver projects within time and on budget. 



  • Qualifications in digital marketing 

  • Experience marketing to international audiences through digital and non-digital channels.  




  • Degree in Marketing, Business or Communications or relevant experience.  



  • Digital Marketing qualifications. 



ESB HQ Fitzwilliam 27, One DAC or Santry offices in line with Smarter Working principles, occasional international travel may be required.

The successful candidate may combine remote / smart working within the jurisdiction, with attendance at base for in-person collaboration, the frequency of which is agreed with the manager and subject to ongoing review.

€45,000- €53,000 per annum.
