The Role

The Commercial Lead will perform a key role in ensuring the delivery of financial results in ecars and will collaborate with our Business Development (BD) and Delivery functions to ensure that projects taken on by the business will meet our target returns. The role will involve working closely with our partners, the Business Development, Delivery, Marketing and Finance Teams to prepare pricing models for commercial bids and contracts, develop contract delivery strategies, risk management and reporting.

 

The Commercial Lead will be responsible for the negotiation of commercial contracts (including critical electricity supply contracts in our three jurisdictions), installation contracts, framework agreements, O&M contracts, long-term lease agreements and hub contracts with third party landowners etc.In addition, the role will manage the delivery of business and pricing strategies and the growth of our fleet and roaming business partners and revenue streams.

 

This role will report to the Commercial Manager ecars and will be based in Swift Square, Santry, Dublin 9 in line with ESB's Smart Working arrangements.

The successful candidate may combine remote / smart working within the jurisdiction, with attendance at base for in-person collaboration, the frequency of which is agreed with the manager and subject to ongoing review.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver successful pricing strategies for each jurisdiction to maximise gross margin. Manage the subsequent negotiations with our energy Suppliers to ensure our business secures the optimum commercial value available.
  • Manage contractual negotiations and financial reviews with infrastructure hosts and other key suppliers, vendors and partners.
  • Develop and grow our roaming and fleet revenue streams in RoI, NI & GB.
  • Provide commercial input and challenge to business decisions and business development opportunities.
  • Assist with the legal affairs, compliance, and governance requirements of the business.
  • Provide day-to-day assistance to the BD team or specific bid teams with a focus on commercial modelling to inform negotiation strategy.
  • Participate on negotiation teams driving contract negotiation of project contracts.
  • Develop, lead, and monitor the financial models and business cases with the Finance Team in RoI, NI and GB.
  • Develop and maintain a Stakeholder management plan for the Commercial Team, identifying and categorising all the main stakeholders for the business and holding regular reviews of activity.
  • Lead discussions with Procurement & Legal to devise the commercial strategy for development of competitive procurement processes.
  • Support and deliver successful procurement and contractor management processes to ensure that the business obtains value for money from its vendors.

 

Essential Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum of  5-7 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Either 3rd level qualification or equivalent work experience is essential.
  • Strong quantitative, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • A high level of commitment, commercial acumen, business understanding and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Negotiation, influencing and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Financial skill to appraise project returns and profitability.
  • Prioritise and work on multiple projects as required.

 

Desirable

  • Experience working in the Energy Service Sector.
  • Knowledge of ESB’s organisation structure and relevant Corporate Policies (Internal Staff only).
  • Knowledge of SharePoint, SAP FMIS and SRM systems.
  • Knowledge of wholesale or retail electricity markets.

Salary

€54,000 - €64,000 per annum
