Residential Sales Manager
Position Description
Th Electric Ireland Residential Sales Manager plays a pivotal role in driving Electric Ireland to achieve its residential sales targets and market share ambitions. Given the highly competitive nature of Ireland’s energy market, the successful candidate will need to inspire and motivate their team to seek new opportunities and ensure targets for each channel are met. This role demands a leader who can guide and advise their team to achieve optimal performance across all sales channels.
The specific sales targets will be challenging due to the increased competition from both established players and new entrants. The market’s dynamic nature, with high levels of customer switching and churn, adds to the challenge. We are looking for an ambitious sales manager who thrives in a competitive environment and is driven to reach and exceed targets.
Key Responsibilities

Achieve Sales Targets: Manage and meet challenging sales targets, optimising customer acquisition, conversion rates, and cost per sale across all channels.

Motivate and Lead: Inspire your team to explore new opportunities and achieve sales targets across all channels.

Drive Collaboration: Foster teamwork between Sales and relevant departments.

Innovate: Continuously improve and develop Electric Ireland’s sales channels and their performance.

Manage Relationships: Maintain effective relationships with outsourced partners to ensure optimal performance.

Report and Analyse: Lead internal reporting to provide accurate performance insights to support strategic decision making.

Budget Management: Deliver on annual sales budgets, leveraging performance improvement initiatives, ideally leading to a reduction in costs due to performance improvement initiatives.

Manage Risks: Ensure all sales activities comply with industry regulations, company policies, and ethical standards. Address and mitigate contractual risks effectively. KPI Management: Ensure KPI targets are monitored and delivered through outsourced partners, regarding customer acquisition, conversion rates and cost per sale, across all of Electric Irelands sales channels.

Develop Channel Mix Strategy: Design and implement a strategic channel mix to maximise market reach and customer acquisition, balancing the use of various sales channels for optimal results.

Channel Optimisation: Continuously review and optimise sales performance in every channel, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in reaching sales targets. Customer Satisfaction and Retention: Collaborate with customer experience and customer service teams to improve customer satisfaction and retention rates.

Market Analysis: Be aware of market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to identify new opportunities and areas for improvement. Stay updated with industry best practices and incorporate innovative approaches to sales and customer engagement.

Strategy Development: Contribute to the development and implementation of sales strategies and plans that align with company objectives.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential
Given the core accountabilities and responsibilities outlined above, the role should have the following essential knowledge, skills and experience:

Ability to clearly identify priorities and challenges to steer a path of greatest value while maintaining good external and internal relationships.

Demonstrable commercial acumen around managing cost of sales or equivalent, to optimise the sales channel mix in terms of cost to acquire, channel conversion effectiveness and customer quality / value.

Proven experience managing stakeholders and outsourced partners to drive performance, including negotiation skills and problem-solving abilities.

Leadership qualities to take ownership of a portfolio, with the communication and influencing skills that enable working effectively with a diverse range of internal and external partners.

Proven ability to influence and persuade stakeholders of various levels of seniority, both internally and externally.

Prior experience of reporting and performance management to ensure strategic targets and contractual obligations are met (KPI’s, SLA’s, compliance).

Prior experience in a sales manager / account manager role.

Proven ability to effectively manage a team to deliver strategic targets and support professional development.

Ability to manage difficult situations and conversations.

Tenacity in pursuing delivery of business results.

A minimum of 10+ years relevant sales management experience ideally holding a 3rd level degree in a finance / business discipline or equivalent.

Either 3rd level qualification or equivalent work experience is essential
Desirable
-
Utilities or energy market experience sales experience advantageous but not essential.

Prior experience of digital, face-to-face sales and telesales would be advantageous.
Location
This position will be based in Swift Square, Santry

The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least two anchor days per week. All smart working arrangements are subject to manager approval and ongoing review, based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the individual.

Salary
€80,000 - €94,000 depending on experience
