Position Description  

 

The Senior Data Protection Specialist will play a pivotal role in ensuring Customer Solutions adherence to regulatory requirements and Data Protection standards.  

  

The Senior Data Protection Specialist will have an in-depth expert knowledge of GDPR and will work alongside a team of Data Stewards within Customer Solutions. Reporting to the Residential Markets Governance & Data Protection Manager, the Senior Data Protection Specialist will also work directly with the ESB Data Protection Officer to ensure Electric Ireland’s ongoing compliance with the evolving General Data Protection Regulation.  

  

This position requires a person with a proven leadership experience and will have demonstrable experience of working under pressure to drive a culture of data protection compliance in an ever-changing environment.   

 

 

Key Responsibilities  

 

  • Leading key activities associated with the management of personal data for Customer Solution businesses, providing expert guidance, ensuring compliance and driving Data Protection process efficiency. 

  • Influencing the business and working with all functions collaboratively to ensure that Data Protection considerations are incorporated at the outset of new projects, processes and programmes (Privacy by Design). 

  • Reviewing and evolving the Data Breach process across Customer Solutions / Electric Ireland and their outsourcing partners in accordance with GDPR to reduce breach exposure.   

  • Reviewing and evolving the Data Protection Subject Access Requests for Customer Solutions / Electric Ireland to drive efficiencies and fulfilment.  

  • Reviewing and evolving the Data Protection Impact Assessment Process for Customer Solutions / Electric Ireland to drive business understanding and compliance while ensuring the complete protection of customer information.   

  • Leading Data Protection compliance audits in accordance with the Data Protection Commissioner audit standards, including any third-party premises where appropriate.   

  • Leading Customer Solutions’ response to ongoing and emerging developments under GDPR, specifically within Ireland, UK and Europe and identify and gaps or remediations necessary, to include updates to policies and procedures.  

  • Driving a GDPR compliant culture through developing and fostering strong relationships across Customer Solutions, Electric Ireland and their outsourcing partners  

  • Managing requests from all Third Parties with whom Customer Solutions / Electric Ireland engage with and to ensure that such parties are in compliance with GDPR.  

  • Reporting on GDPR compliance standards, initiatives and data protection KPIs across Electric Ireland/Customer Solutions.  

  • Leading on-going training and information awareness in respect of data protection requirements across the organisation and its Outsource Partners   

 

 

Experience and Qualifications  

 

Essential 

 

  • Experienced Data Protection professional with 5+ Year experience, extensive knowledge of Data Protection legislation, processes, systems, and controls. Ideally experience working in a consumer service organisation. 

  • Proven ability to work effectively in partnership with key stakeholders and business unit senior management, while maintaining independence and personal authority and display an ability to make own decisions.  

  • In depth knowledge of GDPR and its evolving requirements 

  • Strong influencing skills; ability to influence key stakeholders and manage relationships   

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and report-writing skills   

 

Desirable 

 

  • Ideally an appropriate 3rd level qualification in business, IT or a related discipline 

 

 

Location  

 

This position will be based in Swift Square, Santry, Dublin

Salary 

 

€55,500 - €65,500 depedng on experience
