Mechanical Professional Engineer

The Professional Engineer will play a key role in the delivery of engineering projects for ESB. This role involves close collaboration with design teams, ESB partners, and Contractors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver designs from feasibility through detailed design for infrastructure projects design teams.

Support engineering works packages: scope definition, design, procurement, technical assessment and commercial oversight.

Co-ordinate with internal and external stakeholders to progress projects through all lifecycle stages and governance gates – from concept stage through to construction.

Participate in due diligence reviews of internal and external designs to ensure compliance with relevant specifications.

Contribute to design risk assessments for all engineering deliverables.

Provide technical input to project teams and collaborate with colleagues to ensure quality and compliance with standards.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
The successful candidate will ideally have several of the qualities listed below:

Level 8 Engineering Degree or equivalent.

Minimum 3 years of relevant engineering experience.

Proven ability to contribute to the management of significant projects or key aspects of projects.

Good commercial and project management skills.

Good safety awareness and communication skills.

Valid driver's license for ROI, access to a car, and flexibility to travel nationwide.
Desirable
-
Working towards Chartership in a recognised professional institution
-
Experience in utility or linear infrastructure projects
-
Familiarity with FIDIC Conditions of Contract or similar

Experience in performing the role of designer on projects
Location
This position will be based in ESB Engineering and Major Projects (EMP) Offices in Dublin.
ESB is committed to smart working – combining digital tools with a culture of trust and empowerment to enable flexible ways of working. The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least two days per week. All smart working arrangements are subject to manager approval and ongoing review, based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the individual.

Salary
€49,000 - €58,000 per annum
