General Information

Carrington Power Station are seeking apprentices to join our highly skilled engineering team operating one of the most efficient combined cycle gas turbine units operating in England.

Carrington Power Station is a wholly owned subsidiary of ESB, Ireland’s largest electricity company who operate a diverse generation portfolio encompassing a growing renewable element. As a gas fired power station Carrington Power Station will continue to adapt to support low carbon electricity generation objectives.

Apprentices will complete a four-year programme accredited to apprenticeship qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical and Control disciplines. Qualifications will be attained through Trafford College and on the job training. On completion our apprentices will have obtained the skills and experience required to support the operation and maintenance of modern power station equipment.


 Entry Requirements

Candidates must be over 16 years of age by the 31st of July, 2022

A minimum Grade C qualification in the following CGSE’s subjects, or equivalents;

  • Maths and or Additional Maths
  • English Language or English Literature
  • Science*

* Grade C or higher at GCSE Level in any one of the following alternative subjects is acceptable: Technology, Art Craft and Design, Technical Graphics, Materials Technology (Wood), or Metalwork.
